Abstract

技术领域
本发明系有关无线通信系统。更特别是，本发明系有关无线通信系统中有利于系统间交接的方法及系统。
背景技术
如通用移动通信服务(UMTS)系统的先前技术蜂巢型无线通信系统，包含复数具有特定涵盖区域的信元。当无线传送/接收单元(WTRU)跨越信元边界移动时，无线传送/接收单元必须从一信元交接至另一信元。
各信元传播有利于通用移动通信服务系统内交接程序所需的信息。此信息通常包含邻近信元表列，其包含服务信元附近的邻近信元表列。该邻近信元表列可使无线传送/接收单元仅经由有限信元数而非所有可能编码来搜寻。结果，无线传送/接收单元可加速信元搜寻程序而更快速对新信元执行交接。
同时，以IEEE802.11标准为基础的无线局域网络(WLANs)已被发展且被广泛使用。这些系统可期待其高数据速率传输支持。依据802.11标准的无线局域网络使用之一例系为公共空间中使用所谓”热点”的存取点。具有802.11接口的无线传送/接收单元可不需任何实体连接而连接至热点。一旦无线传送/接收单元(经由射频接口被与热点无线相关，则无线传送/接收单元可以通常远较被提供于通用移动通信服务系统者为快的数据速率经由热点传送及接收数据。
当热点提供高品质，高数据速率连接性时，热点的服务范围通常被限制为相当短距离。因为802.11标准下的无线传送/接收单元传输功率被限制为相当低功率位准，所以很难达成充分涵盖大量人口区域。此外，由于802.11装置的受限范围，无线传送/接收单元通常对新热点执行固定搜寻程序。此为严峻处理负载，因此对无线传送/接收单元电池系为固定消耗。缺乏通知热点存在的机构下，无线传送/接收单元应搜寻定期及连续被传输自热点的信号。此产生处理功率及资源非必要的消耗。
因为无线传送/接收单元可接收来自热点的相当高速率服务而可维持通用移动通信服务系统中广泛涵盖区域的连接，所以预期提供被配置通信及交接于802.11标准下的通用移动通信服务系统及无线局域网络系统间的双模无线传送/接收单元。然而，目前并无从如通用移动通信服务的蜂巢型通信系统交接至如热点的无线局域网络型通信系统的便捷方法。因此，预期提供有利于如通用移动通信服务及无线局域网络的两无线通信系统的系统间交接的方法及系统。
发明内容
通过无线传送/接收单元有利于系统间交接的方法系被揭示。无线传送/接收单元可使用不同无线通信协议通信于多重无线通信系统中。第一无线通信系统提供第二无线通信系统至少一部份涵盖区域内的热点。第二无线通信系统中的信元中的基地台可产生及传送信息来通知位于信元附近的热点存在给无线传送/接收单元。无线传送/接收单元接收该信息并被通知信元附近的热点存在。
无线传送/接收单元不需搜寻被传送自热点的信号而更快速及有效激活交接程序。

具体实施方式
在此，”无线传输/接收单元”名词系包括但不受限于站、行动站、使用者设备、固定或行动用户单元、呼叫器或任何可操作于无线环境中的任何其它类型装置。
本发明使用不同无线通信协议有利于两不同无线通信系统间的交接。无线通信系统可为未来发展无线通信系统所呈现的任何类型，包含但不限于通用移动通信服务，分码多重存取2000(CDMA2000)，全球移动通信系统(GSM)，一般封包无线服务(GPRS)，IEEES02.11系统及蓝芽。
为了简化，此后本发明将参考通用移动通信服务系统及提供通用移动通信服务系统涵盖区域内的热点的IEEE802.11无线局域网络通信系统作说明。然而，如上述，应注意本发明亦可公平地应用至通用移动通信服务系统或IEEE802.11无线局域网络通信系统外的任何无线存取系统。
图1为依据本发明的无线通信系统100方块图。系统100包含操作于不同通信协议且具有重叠涵盖区域的两个或更多通信系统。图1描绘802.11标准下操作的通用移动通信服务系统110及热点120。通用移动通信服务系统110具有较广涵盖区域，而热点120具有通用移动通信服务系统110涵盖区域内的有限涵盖区域。通用移动通信服务系统110包含各服务特定涵盖区域的复数信元112。各信元112系被基地台114服务，而热点120被存取点122服务。
无线传输/接收单元130系被配置通信于通用移动通信服务系统110及热点120中。无线传输/接收单元130固定或定期监视来自复数基地台114及存取点122的信息。无线传输/接收单元130对被接收自信元112及热点120的信息执行实际量侧且可交接至另一信元112或热点120。
依据本发明，通用移动通信服务系统110的各基地台114可通知信元112附近的如热点120的任何热点存在给无线传送/接收单元130。各信元的基地台114已留意位于各信元112附近的热点120的存在。基地台114获得有关热点120信息的方式并非本发明重心。然而，例如基地台114可通过侦测被传输自热点120的信号或通过接收来自通用移动通信服务系统110或无线局域网络系统的信息来获得该信息。可替代是，基地台114可被人工配置来包含基地台114何时被设立或如新热点何时被配置的该信息。
通用移动通信服务系统110中，各信元112中的基地台114可产生及传播邻近信元表列来支持通用移动通信服务系统110中各信元112间的有效交接。依据本发明，各信元112亦较佳包含邻近信元表列中热点120的额外信息。可替代是，信元112可针对此传送独立信息。
无线传输/接收单元130可接收来自服务无线传输/接收单元130的信元112的基地台114的邻近信元表列或独立信息，并被通知信元112附近的热点120存在。有关热点120的信息包含但不限于热点120的位置，频带，保全位准，或建立对热点120的连接所需的任何其它信息。因为无线传输/接收单元130可事先获得对热点120的连接信息，所以无线传输/接收单元130可降低处理功率及放置热点及设定特定热点连接的参数通常所需的任何资源。
有关热点120的连接系较佳从信元112中的基地台114被传播至所有无线传输/接收单元130。可替代是，各信元112的基地台114可经由专用频道或共享/共享频道传送邻近信元表列或独立信息仅至无线传输/接收单元130子组。
图2为依据本发明通过通知热点120存在给无线传输/接收单元130而有利于系统间交接的处理200流程图。无线传输/接收单元130系为多模无线传输/接收单元，所以无线传输/接收单元130可接收来自通用移动通信服务系统110及无线局域网络系统(也就是热点)120两者的信息。通用移动通信服务系统110中的信元112中的基地台114可通知信元112附近的热点120存在给位于信元112中的无线传输/接收单元130。有关热点120的信息系较佳被包含于邻近信元表列中。然而，该信息可经由独立信息来传送。
通用移动通信服务系统中的各基地台114可产生有效交接至另一信元的邻近信元表列(步骤202)。邻近信元表列包含交接所需信息，包含但不限于邻近信元的编码组，主乱码实体或邻近信元搜寻窗。各基地台114系经由传播频道传播邻近信元表列至无线传输/接收单元130。
各基地台114系较佳包含邻近信元表列中的热点120附近相关信息，或产生独立信息(步骤202)及传送邻近信元表列或信息至位于各信元112中的无线传输/接收单元130(步骤204)。热点120相关信息包含但不限于热点位置，频带，保全位准，或建立对热点的连接所需的任何其它信息。
热点120相关信息系较佳被传播。然而，基地台可传送热点120相关信息仅至无线传输/接收单元130而非传播它。该信息可经由专用频道或共享/共享频道来传送。
无线传输/接收单元130接收邻近信元表列或独立信息，且被通知热点120的存在(步骤206)。无线传输/接收单元130可不需搜寻被传送自热点130的信号而更快速及有效激活交接程序。
当无线传输/接收单元130接收邻近信元表列或独立信息时，无线传输/接收单元130可处于闲置模式或主动模式。当无线传输/接收单元130处于闲置模式时，无线传输/接收单元130可使用热点120相关信息对热点120交接，而当无线传输/接收单元130处于主动模式时，无线传输/接收单元130可使用该信息经由热点120来激活新呼叫。
建立对热点120的连接的前，无线传输/接收单元130系对被传送自邻近信元表列中的基地台114及热点120的信息执行实际量测(步骤208)。该实际量测可为量测及比较信元112及热点120间的信号品质有关的任何量测。此可包含但不限于信号干扰比(SIR)或被接收信号强度指针(RSSI)。
无线传输/接收单元130决定被传送自热点120的信息量测是否满足预定准则(步骤210)。若该量测满足该准则，则无线传输/接收单元130激活对热点120的交接程序或经由热点120激活新呼叫(步骤212)。若量测不满足预定准则，则无线传输/接收单元130并不尝试建立对热点120的连接(步骤214)。
虽然本发明特征及组件通过特定组合中的较佳实施例做说明，但各特征或组件均可无较佳实施例的其它特征及组件下被单独使用或具有或无本发明其它特征及组件的各种组合中。

Claims (14)

1.一种通过可使用不同无线通信协议通信于两无线通信系统中的多模无线传送/接收单元(WTRU)以及一无线通信系统提供该其它无线通信系统涵盖区域内之一热点而有利于系统间交接的方法，该方法包含：
通过信元中的基地台来产生一信息以通知位于该信元附近之一热点存在给该无线传送/接收单元；
从该基地台传送该信息至该无线传送/接收单元；及
接收该无线传送/接收单元处的信息并得知该信元附近的该热点存在。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于，进一步包含步骤为：
对自该热点所传送的信息执行实际量测；
决定该量测结果是否满足一预定准则；及
若满足该预定准则，则建立对该热点的连接，
该执行、决定及建立步骤系于该无线传送/接收单元中执行。
3.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于，该传送步骤包含经由一传播频道传送该信息。
4.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于，该传送步骤包含经由该无线传送/接收单元专用之一专用频道传送该信息。
5.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于，该传送步骤包含传送该信息至位于该信元中的无线传送/接收单元子组。
6.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于，该信息包含于一邻近信元表列中。
7.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于，该信息包含该热点的位置、身份识别、频带及保全位准至少之一。
8.一种使用两不同无线通信协议有利于两无线通信系统间的系统间交接的系统，该系统包含：
一无线传送/接收单元，用以与一第一无线通信系统及一第二无线通信系统通信；
该第一无线通信系统提供该第二无线通信系统的涵盖区域中的热点；及
该第二无线通信系统包含复数信元，各该复数信元之一基地台包含可产生及传送信息来通知该无线传送/接收单元位于该信元附近的该热点存在的装置。
9.根据权利要求8所述的系统，其特征在于，该无线传送/接收单元进一步包含对自该热点所传送的信息执行量测的装置，藉此若该量测满足预定准则，则该无线传送/接收单元建立对该热点的连接。
10.根据权利要求8所述的系统，其特征在于，该信息系经由一传播频道来传送。
11.根据权利要求8所述的系统，其特征在于，该信息系经由该无线传送/接收单元专用之一专用频道来传送。
12.根据权利要求8所述的系统，其特征在于，该信息系被传送至位于该信元中的无线传送/接收单元子组。
13.根据权利要求8所述的系统，其特征在于，该信息包含于一邻近信元表列中。
14.利要求8所述的系统，其特征在于，该信息包含该热点的位置、身份识别、频带及保全位准至少之一。
