Abstract
提供一用户设备从一无线局域网络(WLAN)至一通用移动通信系统(UMTS)或从一UMTS至一WLAN的一自动跨区转换程序的装置。基于用户的喜好、信号品质、该UE与将切换过去的系统或信号品质位置坐标的比较,则跨区转换可通过该UE所激活。通过其它系统,系统的可用频道可被广播至该UE,或该UE可监控将切换过去的系统的频道并锁定其中之一。该跨区转换亦可通过该UMTS而被激活,选择是基于功率而决定。

技术领域
本发明是关于WLAN及UMTS系统。特别地是,本发明是有关于WLAN及UMTS系统间跨区转换的装置及技术。
背景技术
激活一UMTS系统及一WLAN系统间的一跨区转换程序可以通过用户激活的一手动跨区转换程序来执行,而其中该用户必须要知道在目前地理位置的WLAN涵盖范围的存在,并且“接通”其WLAN连接。
不过,仍然极需提供一自动交跨区转换程序。
实用新型内容
本发明的特征在于,提供可被UE(用户设备)激活或系统激活的自动跨区转换装置。
关于该用户设备(UE)激活的装置,用户设备要检测一WLAN覆盖区的存在,并基于一用户喜好而激活该跨区转换(HO)程序。两者择一地,该UE也可以追踪WLAN涵盖区域的位置,并在一特定范围内从该WLAN激活该HO程序。
系统激活的装置会执行下列步骤:
通过包含一组所有WLAN频率的系统,而对该UE所请求的功率测量。当该UE位于该WLAN涵盖区域内时,系统会根据一组包含该UE及该所需应用程序迁移率的判定标准来激活该HO。
另一个实施例中,当该UE位于该WLAN涵盖区域内时,系统会追踪该UE的位置,并根据一组包含该UE及所请求应用程序的迁移率的判定标准来激活该HO程序。

具体实施方式
一个以UE启始的由一UMTS12至一WLAN12的跨区转换,显示在图1的流程图中,其中,步骤S1,该系统(UMTS)会广播该UE10所在的单元(cell)范围内可用的WLAN的列表;在步骤S2,该UE10会接收及储存在那个单元范围内所有可用WLAN的列表;而在步骤S3,该UE10会请求在该单元范围内WLAN的位置,而该请求是基于用户的喜好;在步骤S4,当该UE10正在移动时,其会将其目前的坐标与所储存的那些WLAN的坐标做一比较;在步骤S5,一个决定必须根据该UE10的位置与该WLAN14的位置是否在一预先设置的限制内而下,如果不是,在步骤S5A,则程序会跳回到步骤S4。若情况是该UE10与该WLAN14的位置是位于一预先设置限制的范围内时,则在步骤S5B,程序会跳到步骤S6,据此而激活该跨区转换程序。
图2其是显示更详细的由UE激活且基于位置的跨区转换流程图,其中程序步骤是发生于UE10,UMTS12及WLAN14之间。
在步骤S1,该UE会听从于广播控制频道(BCCH);而UMTS12则在步骤S2广播可用WLAN的列表;在步骤S3,该UE10会接收及储存该可用WLAN的列表,同时,基于预设的用户喜好,UE10会启始获得该较佳WLAN的位置的程序;在步骤S4,UE10则请求该UMTS12提供该较佳WLAN的位置;在步骤S5,UMTS12获得位置信息,并在步骤S6提供给UE10该WLAN及其相关位置的列表。
在步骤S7,UE10会监控位置信息,并当UE10位于该WLAN涵盖范围内时,启始一跨区转换(HO),在步骤S8,该UE10将会启始WLAN服务到WLAN14。
在步骤S9,WLAN14通过在步骤S10与UMTS12交换信息而认证该UE10,并根据交互影响的状况,授予UE10存取的权限,如步骤S11,并也可根据交互影响的状况而提供一新的互联网络通信协议(IP)地址。
在步骤S12,UE10通过UMTS12而启始跨区转换至WLAN;在步骤S13,通过UMTS12及WLAN14间的通信连接,数据可以被选择路径。
在步骤S14,UMTS12提供一在跨区转换程序完成的信息至UE10,接着,在步骤S15,WLAN系统的服务在UE10及WLAN14间重新开始。
图3是显示另一个由UE启始的从一UMTS12跨区转换至一WLAN14的技术,UE10’在10a’具有与UMTS12通信的能力,在10b’具有与WLAN14通信的能力。
在步骤S1,UE10’会听从于广播控制频道(BCCH);而在步骤S2,UMTS12则在频道中广播可用WLAN的列表。
在步骤S3,UE10’会接收及储存该可用WLAN频道列表;在步骤S4,UE10’启始无线电单元(radio unit)10b’而在步骤S5传输该WLAN频率列表至10b’。在步骤S6,该WLAN接收器10b’会监控该WLAN频道,并在步骤S7锁定其中一WLAN频道,而在步骤S8对WLAN14启始WLAN服务。
在步骤S9,WLAN14通过在步骤S10与UMTS12的信息交换而认证该UE10’。而在步骤S11,WLAN14根据交互影响的状况而授予存取WLAN服务的权限,并重先分配一新IP地址。10b’及10a’间的跨区转换在步骤S12被启始,并在步骤S13,通过在步骤S14选择数据路径至WLAN14的UMTS12而启始跨区转换至WLA14。
在步骤S15,UMTS12警示单元10a’跨区转换程序完成,而在步骤S16,10a’警示10b’跨区转换程序完成,这样在步骤S17,WLAN系统的服务在UE10’及WLAN14间重新开始。
图4是显示由UE启始的从UMTS12跨区转换至WLAN14的技术,其中图4显示的UE10’与图3中的UE10’在结构上相似。在此一实施例中,跨区转换是基于功率,并且没有广播发生。
在步骤S1,从单元10a’附加上分组交换(packet switched,PS),并在步骤S2,10a’的电源被打开。在步骤S3,单元10a’启始10b’的无线电单元,据此,则10b’则在步骤S4具有其本身的接收器,以监控WLAN频道,并在步骤S5锁定其中一WLAN频道,并且在步骤S6对WLAN14启始WLAN服务。
在步骤S7,WLAN14通过在步骤S8的与UMTS12间的认证程序,而认证UE10’,并且在步骤S9授予对WLAN的存取权限并可根据相互影响状况重新分配一新IP地址。
在步骤S10,单元10b’会启始与单元10a’的跨区转换,而该单元10a’会在步骤S11通过UMTS12启始跨区转换至WLAN14,并且UMTS12于步骤S12时,会在UMTS12及WLAN14间选择路径。并且UMTS12在步骤S13警示单元10a’跨区转换完成。单元10a’在步骤S14警示单元10b’跨区转换完成。据此,在步骤S15,WLAN系统的服务在UE10’及WLAN14间重新开始。
图5是显示另一个由UE启始并利用一WLAN广播的跨区转换技术。图中的UE10’与图3及图4中的UE10’相似。
在步骤S1,UE会通过单元10b’而听从于广播;而在步骤S2,WLAN14提供可用UMTS列表的广播。在步骤S3,UE10’会通过单元10b’而接收及储存该可用UMTS频道列表;在步骤S4,以用户激活的方式或基于信号品质而启始跨区转换(HO)。此时,该用户于HO已被启始时选择一预设的喜好。当信号品质被用来作为一判定标准时,则会执行信号品质的测量,当HO在信号品质到达一预设临界值时被激活。
根据跨区转换的激活,在步骤S5,10b’会启始在单元10a’的无线发射(radio initialization);而单元10a’在步骤S6则启始包括有附加分组交换(PS)、信息包数据协议(PDP)文本等的UMTS服务启始化(serveinitialization)。在步骤S7,UMTS12完成启始,通知单元10a’启始已成功;在步骤S8,UE10’通过单元10b’启始跨区转换至该UMTS(服务连续性);在步骤S9中,WLAN14及UMTS12间发生数据路径选择,据此,WLAN14在步骤S10警示单元10b’跨区转换完成(且已成功);单元10b’在步骤S11警示10a’跨区转换已完成并在步骤S12关闭WLAN接收器,据此,在步骤S13,UMTS系统的服务在UMTS12及单元10a’间重新开始。
图6其是显示由UE启始的从一WLAN14至一UMTS12的跨区转换。在此实施例中,在步骤S1,UE10’可由用户或自动地通过单元10b’根据信号品质而激活一跨区转换。在此的程序基本上与图5实施例中步骤S4的相关叙述相同。
单元10b’在步骤S2启始单元10a’的无线发射启始化,而单元10a’在步骤S3锁定该UMTS系统12,并执行UMTS服务和启始,此步骤与图5实施例中所示的步骤S6基本上相同。之后,执行图6中的步骤S5到S11(基本上与分别显示在图5中的步骤S7至S13相同),图5与图6间的不同在于,在图6中的实施例没有WLAN广播。
图7是显示由UMTS系统激活的从一UMTS12至一WLAN14的跨区转换,而该跨区转换技术是基于功率。
在步骤S1,UE10’会通过单元10a’而听从于广播频道(BCCH);而在步骤S2,UMTS12广播可用WLAN的列表。在步骤S3,UE10’会通过单元10a’接收及储存该可用WLAN频道列表,并且在步骤S4,激活在10b’的无线电单元,在步骤S5提供单元10b’以频道列表。在单元10b’的WLAN接收器于步骤S6时监控WLAN频道,以在步骤S7提供一量测报告给单元10a’,而该报告在步骤S8中被从单元10a’转发至UMTS12。
在步骤S9,UMTS12以一特定的WLAN为目标而启始跨区转换程序,以在步骤S10提供跨区转换程序的该目标WLAN系统给单元10a’。
在步骤12,UE10’通过单元10a’警示目标WLA系统的单元10b’,并且单元10b’的WLAN接收器会锁定目标WLAN系统的WLAN频道,并在步骤S13与WLAN14通信以启始WLAN服务。
在步骤14,WLAN14通过与UMTS12间的通信而认证UE10’,并在步骤S15通过与单元10b’的通信而授予存取权限,该单元10b’在步骤S16警示单元10a’跨区转换完成,而单元10a’在步骤S17警示UMTS12已完成至WLAN14的跨区转换,据此,UMTS12在步骤S18选择至WLAN14的路径。在步骤S19,UMTS12通知单元10a’跨区转换程序完成,单元10a’也据此在步骤S20通知单元10b’跨区转换完成。据此,在步骤S21,WLAN系统的服务在UE10’及WLAN14间重新开始。

1.一种组合装置,在其中一用户设备能自动将该用户设备从一第一系统跨区转换至一第二系统,该第一系统是为一通用移动通信系统及一无线局域网络其中之一,而该第二系统则是为该通用移动通信系统及无线局域网络剩余的其中之一,其特征在于:所述装置包括:
该第一系统,其包含:
用以广播可用以通信的第二系统的一列表的装置;
该用户设备,其包括:
用以接收及储存位于该用户设备所在的一单元内可用的第二系统列表的装置;
用以请求较佳可用的第二系统的装置;
响应该激活装置,用以请求在该单元内的该可用第二系统的位置的装置;
用以提供该用户设备坐标的装置;
用以将该用户设备坐标与储存在该用户设备中的该第二系统坐标比较的装置;以及
当该比较显示该第二系统在一预先设置的限制内时,用以激活一跨区转换程序的装置。
2.一种组合装置,在其中一用户设备能将该用户设备从一第一系统跨区转换至一第二系统,该第一系统是为一通用移动通信系统及一无线局域网络其中之一,而该第二系统则是为该通用移动通信系统及无线局域网络剩余的其中之一,其特征在于:所述装置其包括:
