Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a device for receiving digitally coded messages, in particular traffic reports, a location table is required for decoding, and an area location table for decoding of digitally coded messages, in particular Traffic announcements, in a receiver.
With the radio data system (RDS) an additional and inaudible transmission of digital data parallel to Broadcast programs in a data channel. Specifications of the radio data system for FM radio are among others in the publication Tech. 3244-E, March 1984 of the European Runfunk Union (EBU). Radio receivers with suitable RDS decoders can transmitted data in addition to audio reception with the Record and decode the same receiver. For the Data transmission is 32 groups of 104 bits each provided, each of the transmitted groups one each certain service is assigned. Group 8a is for Time for the transmission of digitally coded Traffic announcements provided.
The structure and coding of these traffic reports are specified in CEN ENV 12313-1, which is based on the proposed standard ALERT C, November 1990, published by RDS ATT ALERT Consortium based. The essential elements of a Traffic reports are the location of the event and the event. This information is cataloged that means that every traffic-relevant place and everyone assigned a unique code to traffic-relevant events is. The chaining of the locations along the location table existing roads reflect the course. Except the usual facilities of a receiving device with a RDS decoders are used to use the traffic information channel TMC (Traffic Message Channel) Decoding devices for Storage, further processing and output of the Traffic announcements required.
Während bei den Rundfunksystemen, das heißt bei den unidirektionalen Netzen, nacheinander alle TMC-Meldungen gesendet werden, ist bei den bidirektionalen Netzen eine Übertragung auf Wunsch (Request) möglich.TMC messages can not only with the help of Radio data system are transmitted, but also for example within digital audio broadcasting (DAB), especially in the FI channel (Fast Information Channel). Furthermore, a transmission of the TMC messages is over Mobile radio networks are provided, in particular the SMS channel is suitable (SMS = Short Message Service). This is a packet-oriented data channel that runs parallel to the spoken phone call can be processed. While at the broadcasting systems, that is, the unidirectional ones Networks, all TMC messages are sent one after the other with bidirectional networks, transmission on request (Request) possible.
Because of the limited amount of data, only a few can Information is transferred from which with the help of relative extensive tables in the receiver the traffic announcement is decoded and prepared for output. These tables contain location-based and event-related data. So are for decoding a digitally coded traffic announcement including a location code, a location type (point area, Road segment), a reference to a previous one Point, a reference to a subsequent point and others Data required.
Then there are more to output a traffic report location-related data is required, such as type a street, possibly a specific name of the Street, the name of the place, a second name of the place and if applicable, the geographic coordinates.
Accordingly, a digitally coded traffic report can only be decoded if the location code and the associated Information in the list is available in the recipient. There are therefore very large amounts of data are required if all Traffic reports should be decodable and reproducible. This applies all the more, the greater that of a uniform standardized system is covered area, for example the Federal Republic of Germany.
Because of the large storage capacity and also because of the Interchangeability is suitable for storing Location tables therefore especially CD-ROMs and others Mass storage. The interchangeability enables, among other things an adaptation to changes in the road network and the Decoding of TMC messages in other areas, that is usually in other countries. Here is the access time on the data relatively large, which translates into a delay that makes the message playback noticeable. Another It is possible to save location tables by that the location table filed in a central facility is and that a data transmission device for Transfer of the location table from the central facility is provided. In the central facility, the the latest location tables are available. As A data transmission device is suitable, for example Cellular device.
The object of the invention is the decoding of digital encoded messages despite the use of location tables on exchangeable data carriers or in central Facilities to accelerate without the capacity of the RAM for recording the entire location table must be designed.
To solve this problem is according to the invention provided that at least one segment of each Location table can be loaded into a working memory, the Segments that contain locations of each sub-area.
The device according to the invention ensures that the memory volume of the memory in the receiver is not is exceeded, which is reserved for a download. This is even more advantageous than the life cycle of the replaceable disk significantly shorter than that functional lifetime of the receiver is. That's the way it is Up-date phase of a CD-ROM, for example, at half Year while the device for a life of eight years is designed. Since the media, that is, the removable media (CD-ROM) often from others Companies are manufactured and sold as the devices, with the device according to the invention emerging standardization problems avoided. At in a central facility stored location tables Expect even more frequent changes, since that's the one Advantage of the central facility in an ongoing Update exists.
To decode even at the boundaries of the segments enable, in one embodiment of the invention be provided that the segments also for decoding required locations in adjacent sub-areas included, while another embodiment provides that at least two segments at a time in the RAM are loadable.
When driving a vehicle from the subarea already loaded segment in a partial area of a not loaded segment or when the vehicle approaches the The border between these sub-areas becomes a reload of a Segment required. In the case of further training, the device according to the invention provided that the reloading a segment is initiated by an operation. For a vehicle with a suitable tracking device, according to Another training provided that reloading of a segment depending on the respective position of a vehicle takes place automatically.
If a vehicle is moving within a sub-area Segment, it may well happen that over longer Time the TMC messages are decoded correctly. Of the The user of the facility does not initially notice when the removable media is not in the drive or a central facility in which the location table is stored is unreachable. That's why with another Training provided that a warning signal is given, if a data medium containing the location table is not is inserted or if a central facility in which the place table is stored via a Transmission device is not accessible.
In the context of the invention, the size of the segments depending on Preconditions can be chosen in detail.
In the interest of compatibility of devices of different Manufacturers with location tables from different manufacturers or Service provider is preferably provided that the RAM has at least a standardized size. An advantageous embodiment does not make this possible too much RAM with enough Size of the sub-areas in that the standardized size 128 is kbytes.
The object of the invention is also at a Location table solved in that the location table in several each individually loadable into a memory of the receiver Segments is divided, the segments being the locations respectively of a sub-area included.
As already in connection with the invention Facility mentioned can also be in the individual segments Locations required for coding in adjacent areas Sub-areas exist or at least two segments loaded into RAM at the same time. By this is the decoding of TMC messages that Contain location information from both affected sub-areas, possible. These further developments enable in particular a transition from adjacent areas, so usually in the north-south or east-west direction. However for decoding a TMC message not only places that are in these directions outside of what is being viewed Partial area, but also in the diagonal direction, would require an additional segment in the Load memory. To avoid such Measures is in a further development of the location table provided that additional segments of the location table are stored that contain locations in other sub-areas, that are spatially offset from the sub-areas.
An advantageous embodiment of the invention Location table is that the segment boundary by two pairs of coordinates each, preferably in WGS84 format, and a segment identifier is characterized.
The above compatibility can be with a location table thereby ensuring that the segments at most have a standardized size. It is preferably the standardized size 128 kByte.
The location table according to the invention can on a exchangeable data storage or in a central Facility to be filed with a facility for Decoding of the messages via a transmission device is connectable.
