This invention relates to a cushioning securing attachment designed primarily for use in connection with glass protectin covers v for the upper surfaces of tops of des s, sideboards, buffets, dressers, chifloniers, bureaus and tables, but it is to be understood that an attachment in accordance with this invention may be employed for any purposes for which it may be found applicable, and the inven- 19 tion has for its object to provide, in a manner as hereinafterset forth, an attachment of the class referred to not only acting as a cushioning support for the cover, but further acting to anchor the latter stationary in superposed position relative to the upper surface of the article for which the cover is employed to protect.
A further object of the invention is to pro vide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, an
20 attachment for the purpose referred to acting when set up to prevent-the entrance of dust between the cover and the uppersurface of the top of the article for which the cover is employed to protect. r
A further object of the'invention is to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, an attachment for the purpose referred to acting when set up to prevent the shiftingof the protecting cover relative to the surface for which the cover is employed to protect.
A further object of the invention is to provide, in a-manner as hereinafter set forth, an attachment of the class referred to having continuous means for fixedly securing it to the upper surfaceof the topof the article and spaced means for securing the cover to and upon the attachment. '1
A further obj ect of the invention is to provide, in a manner as hereinaftergsetforth, an attachment of the class referred to including a cushioning element provided with adhesive material for securing it in position and for securing the cover thereto, and further including means to protect such material until the attachment is arranged in securing position relative to the cover.
Further objects of theinvention are to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a cushioning attachment for the purpose referred to which is comparatively simple in its construction and arrangement,strong, durable, compact, thoroughly efiicient in its use, conveniently applied for securing a protecting cover in position, and inexpensive to manufacture. o With the foregoing and other objectsin view, the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and. arrangement of parts as hereinafter more specifically described, and illustrated in the accompanying o0 drawing," wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be'understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which fall within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.

The employment of the attachment is illustrated by way of example for anchoring 5 or securing a glass cover in protecting position with respect to the upper surface of a desk top. When the attachment is set up it prevents the glass cover from shifting relative to the top which is being protected and also prevents the entrance of dust between the top and the cover. The attachment is not only anchored to thetop of the desk or other article, but also provides means for anchoring the glass cover in superposed relation with respect to the surface with which the cover is employed for protective purposes. The attachment not only supports the marginal portions of the cover, but at spaced points supports the body of the cover between the marginal portions of the latter; therefore, it is thought that the many advantages of an attachment in accordance with this invention for the purpose set forth can be readily understoochand although the preferred'embodiment of the invention is as illustrated and described, yet it is to be understood that changes in the detail of construction can be had which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What I claim is 1. An attachment for the purpose set forth comprising a combined supporting, cushioning and coupling means of strip like form for the marginal portions of glass protecting covers for surfaces, and combined cushioning V and coupling means of disk like form for the body of the cover adjacent the marginal portions of the latter, each of said means provided with adhesive material of disc like form for securing the means to the surface to be protected and for securing the means 2. An attachment for the purpose set forth comprising a combined supporting, cushioning and coupling means of strip like form for the marginal portions of glass protecting covers for surfaces, combined cushioning and coupling means of disk like form for thebody of the cover adjacent the marginal portions of the latter, each of said means provided with adhesive material of disc like form for securing the means to the surface to be protected and for securing the means to the cover, the adhesive material also forming a part of the combined supporting cushioning and coupling strip for the marginal portions ofthe cover, and also for securing the cover to thestrip being in the form of spaced bodies disposed at intervals upon the outer face of the strip, and each of said means further including removable tecting the adhesive material.

In an attachment for the purpose set forth comprising a combined supporting cushioning and coupling means for the marginal portions of glass protecting ccvers'for surfaces, said means including a combined supporting and cushioning element formed of a flexible strip possessing a cushioning characteristic and having one face thereof coated at intervals with adhesive material, a coupling element formed of a flexible strip corresponding in length and width to that of said other element and having both of its faces coated throughout with an adhesive material,

7.v In an attachment for supporting, cushioning and anchoring glass covers for protecting surfaces, a combined supporting and cushioning element formed with inner and outer faces, the outer face being coated with adhesive material, a coupling element formed with inner and. outer faces, each coated with adhesive material, one of the faces of said coupling element being permanently secured to the other face of said other element and having its other face providing for securing the coupling element to the surface to be proadhesive material, a coupling element formed with inner and outer faces, each coated with adhesive material, one of the faces of said coupling element being permanently secured to the other face of said other element and having its other face providing for securing the coupling element to the surface to be protected, said combined supporting and cush- 'ioning element having its coated face providing for fixedly securing the cover thereto, and removable protecting means for the said coupling element.

In an attachment for supporting, cushioning and anchoring protecting covers for surfaces, an elongated, flexible cover supporting strip of cushioningmaterial having one of its faces provided with an adhesive mate rial, a flexible coupling strip corresponding in length and width to that of said other strip and having both of its faces coated with an adhesive material, one of the faces of said couplingstrip being permanently secured to the other face of the supporting strip, the other of the faces of the coupling strip providing for fixedly securing the coupling strip to the surface to be'protected, and the adhesive face of said supporting strip providing for fixedly securing the cover thereto.

In an attachment for supporting, cushioning and anchoring protecting covers for surfaces,-can elongated, flexible cover supporting strip of cushioning material having one of its faces provided with an adhesive material, a flexible coupling strip corresponding in length and width to that of said other strip and having both of its faces coated with an adhesive material, one of the faces of said coupling strip being permanently secured to 7 p ms,

other of the faces of the coupling stripproviding for fixedly securing the coupling strip to the surface to be protected, the adhesive face of said supporting strip providing for fixedly securing the cover thereto, and a flexible protecting strip removably secured to that coated face of'the coupling strip to be secured to said surface, said protecting strip being of the same length and width of the coupling strip.

An attachment for the purpose setforth com risin an outer combined su p porting, cushioning and coupling meansof strip like form for the ,margi'nal'portions of glass protecting covers for surfaces, and a set of inner combined, supporting and coupling means, said outer means consisting of a pair of superimposed flexible sections secured tosisting of a pair of superimposed se'ctions'secured together, the-upper section of'said inner means possessing a cushioning characteristic and having adhesive material on its upper face for fixedly securing it to the lower face of the cover adjacent the marginal portions of the latter and the lower section of said inner means having adhesive inaterialon its lower face for securing it to the surface to be protectedadjacent' the marginal portions of the latter, the adhesive material on the upper face of said outer means being arranged at spaced intervals, each of said inner means being of less area than said outer means and normally andremovablyconnected to said outer means by and protecting the adhesive material on the upper face of the latter.

An attachment for the purpose set forth, comprising an outer combined supcushioning and coupling means of strip like form for the marginal portions of glass protecting covers for surfaces, a set of inner combined, supporting and coupling means, said outer means consisting of a pair of superimposed flexible sections secured together," the upper section possessing a cushioning characteristic and having adhesive material on its upper face for fixedly securing it to the marginal portions of the lower face of the cover and the lowersection having adhesive material on its lower face for secur-. ing it to the marginal portions of the surface 1 to be protected, each of said inner means con- 5 sisting of a pair of superimposed sections secured together, the upper section of said inner means possessing a cushioning characteristic and having adhesive material on its upper face for fixedly securing it to the lower face of the cover adjacent the marginal portions of the latter and the lower section of said inner means having adhesive material on its lower face for securing it to the surface to be protected adjacent the marginal portions of the latter, the adhesive material on the upper face of said outer means being arranged at spaced intervals, each of said inner means being of less area than said outer means and normally and removably connected to said outer means by and protecting the adhesive material on the upper face of the latter, a removable protector for the lower face of the lower section of the outer means, and
' a removable protector for the upper face of the upper section of said inner means.

An attachment for the purpose set forth, comprising an outer combined supporting, cushioning and coupling means of strip like form for the marginal portions of glass protecting covers for surfaces, a set of inner combined supporting and coupling means, said outer means consisting of a pair of superimposed flexible sections secured together, the upper section possessing a cushioning characteristic and having adhesive material on its upper face for fixedly-securing it to the marginal portions of the lower face of the cover and the lower section having adhesive material on its lower face for securing a it to the marginal portions of the surface to be protected, each of said inner means consisting of a pair of superimposed sections secured together, the upper section of said inner means possessing a cushioning characteristic and having adhesive material on its upper face for fixedly securing it to the lower face of the cover adjacent the marginal portions of the latter and the lower section of said inner means having adhesive material on its lower face for securing it to the surface to be protected adjacent the marginal portions of the latter, the adhesive material on the upper face of said outer means being arranged at spaced intervals, and the adhesive material on the lower face of the lower section of the outer means disposed throughout said face.
