DRAFT-EXCLUDER FOR DOORS.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 543,932, dated August 6, 1895. Application filed November 5,1894. Serial No. 527,935. (No mecleL To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, WALTER THOMAS HALL, salesman, residing at 54 South Island Place, Stockwell, and WILLIAM JOSEPH BAY- LIss, bnilders clerk, residing at 5 Great Quebee Street, ll/Iarylebone,London, England, subjects of the Queen ofGreat Britain and Ireland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Draft-Excluders for Doors,
plete article is then fixed in the rabbet or an-' gle of the door-frame, either by adhesive material or by small tacks.
In order that the invention may be more clearly understood,'reference is had to the accompanying sheet of drawings, in which Figures 1 and 2 show the draft-excluder fixed in place. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of a length of the article with a portion of the chenille projecting, and Fig. 4 is a cross-section. I
A is the chenille formed in the manner above described, inclosed in the tube, which 3 5 is of baize or otherma'terial formed by bending a strip round the chenille and stitching it at the side, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The draft-excluder is fixed in the rabbet of the door, so that the edge of the latter will press against it when closed. As used for-windows, it is fixed in a corresponding position pressing against the edge of the sash.
The side Z) at which the tube B is stitched may be extended to form a flange for greater convenience in fixing. This is especially useful if the draft-excluder is to be fixed by tacks.
The excluder may also be fixed to a small band which is fitted in place on the doorframe or window.
What we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
An improved draft excluder for windows, doors and the like, formed from a length of chenille inclosed in a tube of baize, cloth or the like material, and fixed in the rabbet of the door frame or corresponding part of the win-- dow, substantially as and for the purposes specified.
In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands in the presence of two witnesses.
