Description

SYSTEME ET PROCEDE DE LOCALISATION D'UN TERMINAL MOBILE ET D'OBTENTION D'INFORMATIONS LIEES A CETTE SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR LOCATING A MOBILE TERMINAL AND OBTAINING INFORMATION RELATED TO THE SAME
LOCALISATIONLOCATION
The invention relates to a system and a method for locating in the coverage area of a radio terminal, of a mobile terminal connected to a telecommunication network. The field of the invention is that of locating a mobile terminal connected to a telecommunications network, such as a radiotelephone or a mobile telephone, and obtaining information related to this location. Among the current mobile phone location systems, we can mention the GSM (Global System for Mobile) by triangulation and the GPS (GeoPositioning System).
It is recalled that the GSM is based on a network of base stations (Base Station Subsystem) installed by the network operator and having in particular the function of locating the mobile telephone more generally called mobile terminal, being in their coverage area radio: in standby mode, the mobile terminal listens continuously to its radio environment and when the mobile terminal detects a change in location area (i.e. a change in base station), it initiates an update procedure to inform the network of this change. The location information obtained is also saved when the power is turned on. mobile terminal, when it is stopped, at the time of communication establishments and during cell changes ("handover") during communication. Finally, there is a periodic update by the network, of location information, if the network has not received location information after a configurable period.
It can only offer reduced localization accuracy varying from a hundred meters to several kilometers, particularly in rural areas, and which may also present certain distortions linked to the environment (building, relief, etc.). Furthermore, the installation of new base stations making it possible to improve the coverage of the GSM network by reducing these distortions is the responsibility of the network operator and not of the user of the mobile terminal or of the entities linked to the area covered, wishing to provide more accurate or higher quality information.
Finally, the location is independent of the will of the user of the mobile terminal insofar as the system works even when it is in standby: the user is in some way tracked.
The future Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) should make it possible to obtain better location accuracy, without however providing a solution to the other problems. GPS provides better accuracy, particularly in rural areas, but has disadvantages in urban areas when it includes, for example, underground passages or inside buildings: in fact, the GPS signal is not perceived through of a wall. In addition, this system as well as the GSM system does not allow three-dimensional spatial location. Finally, the GPS system is expensive.
Mobile terminals based on location systems coupling GPS and GSM systems are expensive, bulky, heavy and consume a lot of energy.
The purpose of the present invention is therefore to solve the problem of three-dimensional localization of a mobile terminal, with better precision than that obtained by current systems and by allowing the user to be able to possibly intervene on the coverage of the network.
Des émetteurs fournissant d'autres puissances sont envisageables .The invention is based on a low cost Bluetooth type technology. It will be recalled that the Bluetooth consortium (BT), which brings together manufacturers, is responsible for defining specifications for connecting equipment separated by a distance of less than 100 m by radio. This range depends in fact on the power of the transmitter which can range today from 1 milliwatt to 100 illiwatts and on the sensitivity of the receiver receiving the transmitted signal. Generally a power of 1 milliwatt corresponds to a distance of 10 meters and 100 milliwatts to a distance of 100 meters. Of transmitters providing other powers are possible.
These Bluetooth specifications allow synchronous (for voice transmission) or asynchronous (for data transmission) connections to be made in the 2.4 GHz frequency band, advantageously replacing existing wired or infrared connections.
Many mobile terminals are or will soon be equipped with LV integrated circuits or chips, in particular radiotelephones and / or mobile phones, to facilitate connections with peripherals, or even with an access network.
More specifically, the invention is based on the use of location terminals communicating by radio according to a BT type radiocommunication protocol, with mobile terminals located near these terminals; these terminals are not connected to any access network and act as geographic beacons by transmitting information comparable to a unique radio bar code.
The mobile terminal having recovered this unique identification code, supplies it to a server which, in return communicates to it the information linked to the terminal, in particular the geographic location of the terminal.
However, the system according to the invention also provides for separately sending the identification code BT and a code of the desired information, which implies that with a single identification code several types of information are available. So this is the conjugation of the unique identification code and the additional code relating to a choice of type of information which allows the user to reach, when it exists, the information corresponding to his pole of interest. Thus, the user by providing the identifier of the type of information desired avoids reading information that does not correspond to his research or his area of interest.
The subject of the invention is a system for obtaining information related to the location in the coverage area of a radio terminal of a mobile terminal connected to a telecommunications network, characterized in that the radio terminal is independent of said network, can be fixed or mobile and includes a short distance transmitter capable of transmitting a unique identification code from said radio terminal to said mobile terminal, said mobile terminal comprising means for receiving said identification code and means for retransmission of said code to a server via said telecommunication network, means of adding to said identification code additional elements relating to a choice of type of information provided by at least one server connected to said telecommunication network, and means of registration of at least one identification code so as to be able to consult said server subsequently.
Preferably, the transmitter is coupled to a short distance receiver capable of receiving at least one command from said mobile terminal. According to a characteristic of the invention, the mobile terminal possibly includes means for transmitting a command to the receiver of the radio terminal. According to a characteristic of the invention, the location system comprises at least one server connected to the telecommunications network and comprising means for receiving via said network said identification code sent by the mobile terminal and means for sending to the mobile terminal via said network of information linked to said identification code.
Said short distance transmitter is advantageously a Bluetooth transmitter.
Le réseau de télécommunication peut être un réseau de radiocommunication GSM ou UMTS ou GPRS ; les moyens de communication entre le serveur et le terminal mobile peuvent utiliser le protocole WAP (Wireless ApplicationThe telecommunications network may be a GSM or UMTS or GPRS radio network; the means of communication between the server and the mobile terminal can use the WAP (Wireless Application) protocol
Protocol) .Protocol).
The means of communication between the server and the mobile terminal can use the Internet protocol.
The mobile terminal can be a radiotelephone or a mobile telephone or a personal organizer or a personal computer.
The invention also relates to a method for obtaining information related to the location in the coverage area of a radio terminal of a mobile terminal connected to a telecommunications network connected to at least one server, characterized in that the terminal is independent of said telecommunications network and in that it comprises the steps: a- sending by said terminal of a unique identification code to said mobile terminal, according to a short distance radiocommunication protocol, b- registration by the mobile terminal of said unique identification code for subsequent consultation of the server, c- communication by the mobile terminal of said identification code and additional elements access to one or more types of information from at least one server according to a protocol supported by said telecommunications network, d- search by the server, information linked to said identification code and to said complementary elements, e- of returning to said mobile terminal by said server information linked to said identification code and to said additional elements according to the protocol supported by said telecommunication network.
It optionally includes the prior step of transmitting by the mobile terminal a command according to a short-distance radiocommunication protocol intended for said radio terminal.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the network comprising several servers, the identification code of the radio terminal comprises elements for selecting a server. The identification code advantageously includes elements relating to a characteristic of the radio terminal, in particular that relating to the holder of the radio terminal and / or the transmission power of the radio terminal.
Other features and advantages of the invention will appear clearly on reading the description given by way of nonlimiting example and with reference to the appended drawings in which: FIG. 1 schematically represents a radio terminal according to the invention, the FIG. 2 schematically illustrates the location method according to the invention, FIG. 3 schematically represents a server, FIG. 4 schematically represents a mobile terminal equipped with a BT transceiver, FIG. 5 schematically represents an example of an mobile terminal whose means for receiving the terminal identification code are deported.
We will consider below that the mobile terminal and the radio terminal are equipped with LV cells. More generally, any other cell or transceiver making it possible to communicate according to a short-distance radiocommunication protocol would be suitable, such as for example a cell using radio components transmitting in the 5 GHz frequency band, insofar as this cell can communicate a unique identification code compared to other known identification codes.
A radio terminal 1 equipped with a BT cell 10, which will be designated by BT terminal 1, is shown in Figure 1.
The BT cell 10 comprises, according to current Bluetooth technology, a BT integrated circuit or chip and a power supply element 104. A BT chip notably includes one or more memories 101 containing in particular the identification code of the radio terminal and the program for carrying out the procedures provided for by the BT protocol making it possible to send or receive information or signaling messages on the physical layer of the protocol (transmission of the code, authentication if necessary, etc.), a microprocessor 102 for executing the programs, an input-output interface 103 associated with an antenna.
The element 104 may consist of a battery, possibly rechargeable by means of photoelectric cells or by induction or electrical conduction through a transformer. The energy supply can be obtained by direct access to an energy source 11. Access to this electrical source can take the form of an electrical outlet, male or female. It can also be access to electrical equipment in which the LV terminal 1 is integrated and of which it shares the functions of power supply, fixing or even protection.
The LV terminal 1 possibly includes an energy dissipation element 12, such as an electrical device (light bulb, etc.). Of course, the location system near a BT 1 terminal according to the invention is all the more advantageous as BT 1 terminals are installed on a large scale in a geographical area according to a more or less tight grid depending on the service expected. Such an installation is facilitated in particular by the low cost of these LV terminals and their small size. Insofar as they are not connected to an access network, they can be installed by any person or private or public entity wishing to create and deploy their own network.
A public operator will choose to install these LV terminals in places that prevent theft and vandalism while facilitating routine maintenance. In cities, traffic lights, lampposts, certain traffic signs, certain protected equipment connected or not to an existing electrical supply, certain buildings or public monuments correspond to these criteria. For places that do not provide easy access to the electrical network, such as on certain road networks, autonomous LV terminals using rechargeable batteries will be used. A private organization (port area, refinery, giant warehouse, ...) or an individual may wish to use the existing terminals installed by a public operator or another entity, or supplement the existing network with terminals that he will install himself . The advantage of such a complement is to obtain a finer mesh making it possible to improve the possibilities of accessing the server and / or accessing, as will be seen below, a server providing additional information in relation to the basic information. As shown in FIG. 2, the method for locating the mobile terminal 2, in this case a radiotelephone comprises the following main steps: a- transmission, according to the BT protocol, by the mobile terminal 2 of an identification command to terminal BT 1; and, insofar as the terminal BT 1 or more precisely the BT cell 10, has received this command, that is to say is located in a bubble 13 with a radius less than 100 m or even less than 10 m from terminal 2 ( the radius depends on the transmission power of the BT chips and on the sensitivity of the receiver receiving the transmitted signal), response by terminal BT 1 of its identification code, according to the BT protocol intended for the terminal (s) ( terminals) mobile (s) 2 located in its coverage area 13. When the mobile terminal 2 is located in the coverage area 13 of several LV terminals 1, it receives several identification codes.
According to another embodiment, the terminal BT 1 transmits its identification code at regular intervals without having to be interrogated by a mobile terminal 2. b- communication by the mobile terminal 2 of the code (s) identification to the server 3 according to a protocol (Internet, WAP or other) supported by the telecommunications network 4 such as the PSTN (Switched Telephone Network), ADSL (Asymmetric Digital) network Subscriber Line), GSM, UMTS, GPRS (General Packet Radio Services), or other, to which the mobile terminal 2 is connected; c- search in the database of the server 3 for information linked to the identification code (s) of the terminal (s) BT 1, supplied by the mobile terminal 2; calculations or possible treatments to obtain other information such as for example, when several identification codes have been provided, calculation of the position of the mobile terminal 2 located at one intersection of the coverage areas of the identified LV terminals; information related in particular to billing can optionally be sent to an information processing center of the network 4, d- return to the mobile terminal 2 by the server 3 of the location information as previously described, according to a telecommunication protocol.
A complementary step may take place after reception by the mobile terminal 2, of location information comprising for example a bookmark: e- introduction of this bookmark in the mobile terminal 2 and sending directly or via a personal computer 5, to a server 6 Internet or other in order to obtain the desired information.
The identification code, coded on 48 bits for the BT standard (which corresponds to 16 power 12 possibilities of different identification codes, that is 281000 billion possibilities) includes the identification of the terminal BT 1. The code identification, provided by the manufacturer, is specific to each LV 1 terminal: it is unique regardless of the number of LV 1 terminals installed in a geographic area and which may reach several tens of millions of LV terminals.
Thus, the bluetooth identification code described in the present invention is already industrialized, unique and is found implicitly in all bluetooth devices. This characteristic of the uniqueness of the bluetooth identification code makes it possible to use anywhere (worldwide) a bluetooth chip without having to force an identification code to pre-locate it. The unit of the BT identification code gives rise to the possibility of carrying out a bijection with a database (or several databases).
There are various categories of LV 1 terminals defined as a function for example of the extent of the area (or bubble) of coverage 13 of each LV 1 terminal: for example the two categories corresponding to different transmission powers (1 milliwatt, 100 milliwatts) to which can be correlated, due to the usual receivers used, coverage areas of 10m and 100m. When several categories of LV terminals 1 are installed, the identification code may possibly include characters relating to the corresponding category, which will make it easier to locate the mobile terminal 2.
This information is for example structured in the form a matrix of elements (i, j) such as the identification code of the terminal BT i (i varying from 1 to the number of codes identified in the server) is associated with the type of information j (j varying from 1 to the number of types of information saved on the server).
, de signets Internet permettant d'accéder à un service Internet, notamment un service commercial .In addition to geographic location information which can be presented in different formats ("... North longitude, ... West latitude", "5th floor of ... X street", "A5B8 code", .. .), it can be tourist information ("The building built in 1895 has an architecture ..."), advertising ("20% discount in the shop ..."), leisure ("program the cinema located at 16 rue ... "," opening hours of the library located ...), Internet bookmarks allowing access to an Internet service, in particular a commercial service.
The invention therefore truly constitutes a system for obtaining information from radio terminals, fixed or mobile, capable of transmitting according to a BT type protocol, preferably on request, a unique identifier. The uniqueness of the identification code of each of the radio terminals guaranteed by the manufacturer is a key component of the invention allowing a wealth of accessible information.
All of this information can be systematically communicated by the server 3 to the mobile terminal 2. However, it is preferably selected by the user of the mobile terminal 2 who supplies the server 3 in addition to the identification code, additional elements relative to its choice of type of information. The server 3 can for example send back to the mobile terminal 2 the basic information linked to the identification code of the terminal BT 1 and a menu proposing the different types of possible information. The user then communicates via his mobile terminal 2, his choice to the server 3 which in return sends him the corresponding information. Advantageously, the user saves his choice in his mobile terminal 2 with a view to automatic subsequent use: the choice of a type of information will then be provided, for example, at the same time as the identification code.
Security or confidential information can also be saved in the server 3: they are accessible from certain identification codes of BT terminals 1 for private use for example or from the identification code of a BT terminal 1 to public use, with additional elements (possibly biometric confidential code if the mobile terminal allows, authentication by a scanner, a smart card, etc.) allowing the server 3 to authenticate and validate access to this information . These additional elements can be provided by the mobile terminal 2, at the same time as the identification code or following a request from the server 3 as in the previous case of the choice of a type of information.
The information saved in the server 3 is updated by the server operator, or even by the person who installed the BT terminal 1. This update can for example be carried out online, by Internet or deferred in "batch" mode allowing to group a large number of updates.
The server 3 represented in FIG. 3, conventionally comprises a database 31, a central unit 32 implementing a data access and / or data modification program, possibly a calculation program on the data and an interface input-output 33 capable of communicating with said mobile terminal 2. This server 3 preferably has a large capacity (a few gigabytes) in order to be able to host many types of information (several thousand) and in order to be able to simultaneously process several requests . Also, this server is not necessarily unique. In the case where several servers are used, each server can be assigned to a geographic area, or be selected by specific characters from the identification code of the BT terminals or associated with a type of information. Some servers can be private, under the control of the private organization that installed LV terminals in a private area. Some are mixed insofar as they host public and private information accessible by certain identification codes and / or by a confidential code as described earlier.
The information given by a public body is advantageously enhanced by any format or writing effect which makes it possible to distinguish its source. Similarly, a radio terminal installed by the public body preferably includes a possibly mechanical security system automatically deactivating or neutralizing the transmitter of the radio terminal, in case the radio terminal is unduly moved.
The BT 1 terminal can be moved or even installed on mobile equipment such as a vehicle. The mobile telephone 2 then being in the coverage area of this BT terminal 1, receives then sends to the server 3 the identification code of this BT terminal 1. The information linked to this identification code is not linked to the 'geographic address of terminal BT 1 since it is mobile but can for example be of the type: "Vehicle belonging to Mr. X, resident ..." or "Vehicle stolen on ...". In this case, as in the more general case where the BT 1 terminal is installed on a mobile device, the information linked to the identification code of the BT 1 terminal, may be identification, authentication or authentication information. membership, allowing access to all kinds of services, in particular security (recovery or reporting of stolen objects) and payment (parking meters, road tolls).
In order to be able to communicate with the terminal BT 1 on the one hand and with the telecommunications network 4 to which it is connected, and comprising in particular the server 3, the mobile terminal 2 is itself equipped as shown in FIG. 4, with a cell BT 21 connected to means 22 for communicating with the network, known to those skilled in the art. The communication means 22 make it possible in particular to retransmit the identification code to the server 3 and to receive from the server 3 the information linked to this identification code. The functional means of the LV cell 21, the structure of which is identical to that schematically represented in FIG. 1, reference 10, advantageously comprise, in addition to means for receiving 210 identification codes and transmission 211 of an identification command, means for recording (or memorizing) 212 the codes. The memorized identification code allows later consultation of the server, accessible according to the same process as described above, but also, without being limited to, via the Internet, using the usual means such as ADSL, PSTN, cable or NGN (Next Generation Network). Thus, the recording means allow consultation of the information in deferred time. In this way, once the terminal identification code is saved, there can be anytime and anywhere consultation of the information linked to the registered unique identification code. The implementation of the present invention therefore does not imply any geographical or territorial constraint.
The functional means of the LV cell 21 advantageously comprise detectors of the level of the signal received by the mobile terminal 2 and coming from the BT terminal 1, this level being linked in particular to the power of the BT terminal 1 and to the distance between the transmitter of the signal, that is to say the terminal BT 1 and the receiver of this signal, that is to say the mobile terminal 2. An estimate of this distance, advantageously calculated by the server as a function of parameters supplied by the mobile terminal, thus makes it possible to locate the terminal even more precisely mobile 2 in the area (the bubble) of cover 13 of the LV terminal 1.
As shown in Figure 5, the receiving means 210 of the BT cell 21 or the BT cell 21 itself can be deported to mobile equipment such as a mobile robot 24 connected by a wired or other connection 23 (a BT radio system or other for example) to a device equipped with means 22 for communicating with the server 3. Connection 23 can be a LV connection, when the telecommunication device 22 is itself equipped with a BT chip, the transmission power reception between the BT chip 21 and the BT chip of the telecommunication device 22 is much stronger (100 milliwatts for example) than that used (1 milliwatt or less) on the BT chips marking out the path of the robot.
, etc.Such a configuration divided into two devices is of interest in hostile or difficult to access environments: marine environment, buried pipes, high security zone (atomic power plant, etc.), etc.
The mobile terminal 2 can be a radiotelephone or a personal agenda or a personal computer or any other equipment having a LV cell and a software, IT and communication capacity making it possible to send and / or receive commands and / or BT requests, to send the results (namely at least the identification code of the BT cell of a received terminal), to a remote device via the telecommunications network to which the mobile terminal is connected, or to save for subsequent treatments to be carried out on suitable equipment. Such backups make it possible to carry out, for example, course recordings (for controls or monitoring of security patrols or the like), or relevant accumulations of data for the production, for example of video or even photographic montages.
Finally, a particular mode of operation of the invention consists in implementing an extraction of the database from at least one server on the particular item of equipment provided with a LV cell as previously described. It is then possible to consult this database without the need to communicate with a server via a telecommunications network. The extraction of the base can be done from home, according to geographic criteria (electronic card with all the fixed points having a bluetooth identifier located) or of particular interest (this mode of operation could apply for example in the case of stolen vehicles that an agent could locate using his mobile terminal where the bluetooth identifiers of all stolen vehicles not yet found have been recorded).
