Abstract

A hybrid system (100) and method are provided for determining the geographic location of a wireless device (120) including a first base station subsystem (140), a network subsystem (150), a location computation entity (130), a second base station subsystem (145), and a location measurement entity (110/115), connected as shown. The location computation entity generates and sends location information to the wireless device and/or location measurement entity and processes location information received from the wireless device and/or location measurement entity to obtain the geographic location of the wireless device.
