Description

Title of Invention:
Multizone Walk through Metal Detector with camera & text overlay chip for measuring, displaying, transferring data with video and recording the parameters of the system synchronized with the video image in computer.
Field of Invention:
The invention is directed to a Walk through Metal Detector's detection data transferring & displaying methodology mixed with composite video signal and logging the data concerning the detection of the system superimposed on the video with time stamp. The invented system is referred as system 106FY.
Background of the Invention:
The said product is the latest walkthrough metal detection device and accepted world wide for its transmitter and receiver based design. All the manufacturers in the world they follow the either single transmitter or muilti overlapped receiver technology or muilti transmitter and receiver technology. Now the problem is, worldwide no body has been using the device at its optimum level. Because the device is mostly being used by the security personals at the entry point and most of the time they act very reluctantly and does not respond properly if alarm comes. The current technologies which are available worldwide with the most acclaimed Metal Detectors Manufacturers is that the provision for data logging facility and control either through Serial Port (RS 232/RS 422),TCP/IP,so that the system parameter can be viewed and control remotely and data can be logged in the data base to generate a report to gather data like How many Persons has come and what are the level of detection being observed at which settings for what count and time. Still these technologies are also not able to facilitate the remote viewing and control and data logging facility in a meaningful and cost effective manner. These facilities are actually to cross verify the event when a person is walking through the Metal Detector and the facility should be in such away that the person who is there at the system side for checking the person walking through the detector by observing the Detection data and alarm signal, should be crossed checked or verified. Now the things involved in the checking procedures are as mentioned below.
The security person who is suppose to check observes the followings
1. The face and the body language of the person walking In.
2. While He is In side the detector frame ,what are the alarms are being displayed on the panel to indicate which portion of the body is having the metallic object.
3. What is the count number?
To cross verify the procedure either there should be a provision for second level checking with an another detector and different person.
But this method is not feasible because lots of time, space ,manpower will be involved in that rigorous process.
Now with the data logging facility through RS232 /422 or TCP/IP only the parameters can be seen not the face and the body language of the person.
Comparison between Existing product & present Invention.
The existing multimode walkthrough metal detector is being used for Human body frisking and detection of concealed weapon detection. The device is having more than one vertical zones equally separated to designate the human body starting from head to toe. In existing product while some person walks through the detector, the corresponding zones gets illuminated where the metal is being carried. The indications are given at the exit side of the detector. Through LED (Light Emitting Diodes) the detections are being displayed. To make the system more optimized and useable we have interfaced the system with a camera (For In or Out or IN/OUT both). The camera captures the video of the person who is walking through the detector and the detectors parameters like SENSITIVITY 5THRESHHOLD and METAL LEVEL (0-255) are superimposed on the video which will appear on the computer screen and gets stored in the computer hard disk through a Digital Video recording card.
The most important feature and innovation is Device data i.e detection data that how much metal is getting detected and what time and for whom i.e Image of the person
,Detection level and the time will appear on the screen. The detection data for all the zones gets displayed at the same time to make the user understand that in which zone the maximum detection happens. So it gives a statistical analysis for each detection.
The data which is being displayed is a real time data.
Each Event is getting stored in the hard disk and can be retrieved for postmortem operation.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
It is therefore an object of present invention to provide a WALK THROUGH METAL DETECTOR for Total event cross verification while a person is walking through the detector including the video image or still image of the persons face and body language with superimposed detection parameter data and system data along with IN/OUT count and time stamp with logging facility which would obviate the shortcomings and limitations of the described prior arrangements. In particular the invention is directed to WALK THROUGH METAL DETECTOR system's detection parameter and system parameter like Sensitivity ,threshold, metal level, IN/OUT count ,Time stamp transferring technology mixed with composite video signal and parameters are superimposed and synchronized on the video in the display side with data logging facility.
Statement of Invention:
Muiltizone Walk through Metal Detector with camera & text overlay chip for measuring , displaying, transferring data with video and recording the parameters of the system synchronized with the video image in computer comprising;
a Microcontroller based portable computer having manual & automatic inputs coming from a data port, an auxiliary processor or module used at the output side to superimpose the data with composite video signal coming from a camera output,
Infrared traffic counter , means for Detection of ferrous, non-ferrous and mixed alloy metal objects, means for Measuring, transferring and recording facility of System parameter with detection data super imposed on the Person's video image who is walking through with real time viewing and recording, means to facilitate the remote viewing and control and data logging facility in a meaningful and cost effective manner, and means for automatic alarm rate calculation,
wherein system data like Sensitivity, Threshold and Metal Level, these three parameters are displayed at a time for all the zones on a Alpha Numeric LCD /Graphic LCD and on the Monitor along with the composite video signal to enable a comparative study of the zone detection.
Detail Description of the Invention:
Fig 1. illustrates in schematic block from a circuit arrangement for a WALK THROUGH METAL Detector's or System 106FY,s detection data and system parameters transfer ,Logging ,control and on screen display facility of data synchronized and superimposed with the image of the person walking through in accordance with the present invention. The system 106FY includes a microcontroller for controlling the I/Os . The Inputs are form the detection unit which gives a signal for zone detections. ADCs are being used to convert the analog inputs to digital outputs and through I2C interface the data's are being sent to the controller. The another input to the controller is HEX key pad which is provided to programme the system parameter. All the out puts are controlled by the 8 bit microcontroller with 4051 core. The LCD display where the detection data and the other system parameters are being displayed. To interface video with the detection data and other system parameters we have used a onscreen display module where the composite video signal from camera and data's can be given from the microcontroller as inputs and from the out put the mixed signal video and data comes out. This mixed signal (Video with data) is being fetched to a display (Monitor) having standard video in port using a RJ 11 video cable. The connectors being used both the sides are BNCs.For storing the streaming video with the data ,a Digital Video recoding card is being used which can be PC based or stand Alone. The Front end software gives the facility to search and sorting using date and time. The Video and the data gets stored in PC hard disk. The number of 106FY system can be varied as per the availability of video in port in the DVR card and Video and data from multiple systems can be viewed and stored at the same time.
The superimposed data which is being synchronized with the event is being generated from the coding in the microcontroller using the command set of the OSD module (Commands are given from the Microcontroller). The display format is same as it appears in the LCD and synchronized in a way with the video that when the person is inside the detector and at that time whatever the metal levels being detected will get displayed on the screen with the person's face. Also the current settings of the system like Sensitivity,Threshhold is being displayed. The all zone parameters and detection data are displayed in separate column but at the same time. So whenever any detection takes place then the the comparative datas are being generated and being displayed to let the user know that what is the intensity of the detection in each zone for a particular event.
The display parameters of the system 106FY
1. Sensitivity: Can be varied from 0 to 255 (256 steps)
2. Threshhold:Can be varied from 0 to 255(256 steps)
3. Metal Level: Variable signal (0 to 255 ) 256 steps. Since the the detection is being divided in 256 steps (0 for lowest and 255 for highest) so the alarm can be generated by setting a flag called Threshold in that said limit. If the
Metal level goes beyond that Threshold limit then the System 106FY will give a Audible sound with the Visual Indicator display located on the panels and most importantly on the
Onscreen display it displays the zone number which has crossed threshold.
With the above parameters the IN ,Out count and the time stamp also is being displayed on the screen. The interface between Microcontroller and the OSD Module is a single wire interface and is done through software TX. The transmitting code is generated for standard baud rate 9600 and the ASCII characters are transmitted to the OSD module in a particular sequence. The printing sequence ,speed everything is programmed through the microcontroller.
To provide remote control facility to the SYSTEM 106FY serial link is being provided through RS 232 protocol. The TTL levels of microcontroller signal is being converted to
RS 232 level using MAX 232 chip and using a three wire connection (TX5RX and GND) the system can be connected to t*C serial port where in
Hyper terminal the Data are appeared in the same format as it is for ON screen or LCD and can be controlled from Pt
