Little Island Park Opens on Pier 55 Along the Hudson River

Appearing like a “cluster of giant white flower buds sprouting from the Hudson River,” the 2.4-acre park on Pier 55 dubbed Little Island will be making its public debut on Friday, May 21st, 2021 within the Hudson River Park between West 13th and 14th Streets. The “undulating platform of grass, trees and winding pathways mounted on concrete piles” at the site of the former Pier 54 was envisioned by billionaire Barry Diller, and mostly paid for through his Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation.
