This Amphicar Model 770 got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1964 Amphicar Model 770 was brought from Florida to the Pacific Northwest in the 1990s by the seller, who sold it to a neighbor in 2001 and reacquired it from the same family in 2005. Power comes from a 1,147cc Triumph inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and the body is finished in Beach Sand White over a red and white interior. The car was designed as an amphibious vehicle and has reportedly been used in freshwater under current ownership. This Amphicar is offered with service and owner’s manuals as well as a clean Washington title in the seller’s name.

The 770 model designation refers to the vehicle’s purported ability to travel at speeds of 7 knots in the water and 70 mph on land. Finished in Beach Sand White, this example retains factory trim including a marine-style horn, lights, and side bumpers. Twin nylon propellers can be seen below the bumper, and the exhaust exits high on the back panel above the water line.

When entering the water, the transmission is shifted into neutral and a lever is engaged to activate the propellers. The front wheels then become rudders. 13″ steel wheels wear Amphicar covers and Goodyear Vector whitewall tires. The white convertible top has a tear on the driver’s side as shown in the photo gallery below.

The five-digit odometer shows just under 3,850 miles, of which the seller has reportedly added about 500 road miles. True mileage is unknown.
