Thanks. I wish Taarna had a cross over to Marvel, or was featured in another movie. She is a cool character. I prefer the artwork from the movie. Taarna was supposed to be draw to the art of what the Skycutter added, but the movie didn't have the budget. One footnote to add on Tarrna. She's mute.

I always like seeing your write-ups, and Taarna rocks!

I wonder why they didn't go with the song, it's fairly cool!

Thanks!

I read the Taarna segment was 17 minutes long, the song wraps it up what happens in just a few minutes.  Perhaps that's why they couldn't use the song in the movie?

But I agree, at the very least put the song at the end of the credits with some of the movie action as YouTube video did, that would have been cool.

The odd thing about Tarrna is half of the movie critics at the time did not like the Heavy Metal movie, or how it portrayed women. These days that's typical for a movie to have a strong female role.  Back in 1981, it was rare.

While some of the females in the Heavy Metal movie were eye candy ( Like the insanely hot Queen in Den segment  ), Taarna I thought was portrayed with class and dignity, despite the nudity scenes.

The main drawback as I re-watched the movie months ago was the animation just doesn't hold up well in 2018.   Its a hope of mine that one-day an animation company will mix old time voice talents, many of which were excellent in the Heavy Metal movie, with modern day animation, and maybe a few more minutes of new action.  That would be rich.

Any chance of you stating Den or the Red Queen?

Dan, the alter ego of DEN. Dan was a teenaged nerd transformed into a super athletic and strong dark-skinned man with no hair. As a Warrior, and leader DEN quickly made his mark in Neverwhere world, matching peak human abilities, and exceeding them in some cases.

Fighting: Incredible
Agility: Remarkable
Strength: Remarkable ( lower level, can kill mutants or normals being with one blow )
Endurance: Remarkable
Reason: Good
Intuition: Typical
Psyche: Excellent

Health: 130
Karma: 36

Powers:

Feeble body armor due to an enhanced skeletal frame, muscle, and hardened skin.

Combat sense: DEN can use his senses during times of battle, letting reflexes respond almost as fast as the signals get to the brain. DEN can choose one of three ways this power works...
1 melee attack per round, in addition to multiple attacks, etc.
1 distance attack per round, in addition to normal attacks
1 dodge per round, in addition to any other actions.
Optional Powers: Martial Supremacy, Danger Sense
Nemesis Powers: Opposing Combat Sense Power (1 extra dodge v. 1 extra attack, etc.)

True Chraisma. DEN has Enhanced Beauty at Power rank of Excellent. His Charismatic aura that resonates. With this power, DEN can cause one of the three responses:
Friendship/Trust
Power/Fear
Detect Deception/Lie
Attract the opposite sex +2CS

DEN is a bit naive of this power at times!

Karma Power: When DEN spends Karma, amazing things happen for him. Re-roll results of 1 and 2, and always use the higher dice. Then add karma. , This is also a power DEN is not fully aware of.

Talents:

Horseback riding and aerial riding

Diving and swimming

Guns +1CS

Martial Arts A, and B

Wrestling

Throwing objects DEN gets a +1CS with all Throwing attacks, and +1CS on Catching. This applies to both thrown weapons and normal items.

Blunt Weapons +1CS

Hold breath: At least 4 minutes with heavy muscle use.

Prodigiously sexually endowed.

Leadership talent.

Red Queen, from the Heavy Metal Movie. Ruler in the world of Neverwhere. A sadistic and sexually charged ruler, her minors follow her every command without hesitation, even in the face of death. Her enemy is her brother Ard, who has achieved an immortality status and lusts to rule Neverwhere.

Fighting: Good
Agility: Good
Strength: Typical
Endurance: Excellent
Reason: Excellent
Intuition: Excellent
Psyche: Remarkable

Heath: 46
Karma: 70

Powers: Witchcraft. Demisionion transportation of others ( Remarkable ) , Crystal ball foresight of the future ( Poor ability to see the future ), power amplification of a magic item ( Remarkable ), beast morphing subjects ( Turning them in animal-like looking mutants with Excellent ability ) , Storm control ( Good ),all grated via belief in her diety Uhluhtc.

Sexual domination - The Red Queen has a mystic beauty and presence about her. Any male who gazes upon her must make a green psyche feat roll or be charmed to her will. The victim has a chance to break the spell once per week, but most choose not to as they are happy to be around her presence. If a charmed victim is asked to do something very against his nature, they get one roll per week to break the spell unless they have been mutated by the Queen's power into a beast-like servant by choosing the path of evil. The power over women is roughly 1/3 of what she has over men. When the Red Queen meets her end in the movie, her spell over her servants is broken.

Talents:

Leadership
Military tactics
Ariel riding
Seduction
Knifes and sharp weapons +1CS
Training war aminals
Torture and interrogation
Ability to read magical markings and spells

Weakness: Lust for Men. - 2cS on reason and intuition rolls when working with a person she is attracted to.

Thanks. Have you read the Heavy Metal magazine that came out decades ago? Is that where you got all your information?

Screaming Dean,

95% of the write up was from what I recall in the movie. I have only thumbed through the heavy metal magazine. DEN had a comic series for a while, I think,

You could make a full movie out of DEN or Taarna. Much wasn't explained or explored in the segments, but I think the two were the best parts of the heavy metal movie. I'd like to see the movie re-animated and expanded a bit using the original voices. I know, not going to happen! But if the movie was re-released in that format, the 15-34 age group who probably never heard of the Heavy Metal movie might like it.

I struggled / might have taken a few liberties a bit on the Red Queen based on some of the stuff she said in the movie.
