Rotating rolls to prevent owls from landing on hectometersign

| Description |
English: Around 2014 these rotating bars were introduced on hectometer signs in areas of the Netherlands with many owls, to prevent the owls from landing on these while hunting at night. The signs were quite popular with owls, but the low height caused many accidents with owls accessing these with a low flight getting hit by a car. The ant owl bars are often combined with special, higher landing poles a tad further from the road side for the owls to use instead.
Nederlands: Rond 2014 werden deze anti-uilenrollen geïntroduceerd om te voorkomen dat jagende (kerk)uilen 's nachts op de hectometerpaaltjes zouden landen om te jagen. Door de geringe hoogte van de paaltjes waren er veel aanrijdingen met laag aanvliegende uilen waarbij veel, vooral jonge uilen het leven lieten. De ant-uilenrollen worden ook wel gecombineerd met hogere zitpaaltjes voor de uilen die ook wat verder van de weg af in de berm geplaatst worden. |
