It would nice if the main user interface matched the overall theme look.
Right now it’s like having two different themes.
Even great chefs look for ways to improve.
So I guess you think your Gordon Ramsey?:smileyvery-happy:
A chef also doesn’t create a separate dish for every customer.
You guys are making me hungry!

Hi Joey
I enjoy your light and dark themes, they’re great.
Now I’m trying to remove some items (rss, game, music and photos) from the main menu, I used your instructions in this closed topic.
http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-TV-Live-Streaming-Discussions/Removing-quot-Live-Tv-quot-From-Main-Menu-Solution/td-p/417986
But when I uploaded the theme, it gave me an error, saying to correct the file.
What I did was extract the zip, edit and then create a new .zip file. I did all with Winrar.
I edited only: inc_rv_home_menu_node.xml and deleted only those parts you said.
Do I need to edit meta.xml? If so, what should I edit?
Really thanks!!! I can’t understand.
@CLANK
When zipping with Winrar … use no compression (aka. Store)
and theme must be zipped at root level (eg. if you unzip it and have 2 alaska folders … then thats incorrect)

It does … from the 1st Page … “(Inspired by Xbmc Alaska by Hitcher)”
It’s meant to be a visually faithful interpretation of the Original Alaska Skin for XBMC by Hitcher
Comparison of the Real XBMC Alaska Theme (top row) and my translation of it to the Live Hub (bottom row)
If you don’t like the Main Menu design … get to work and create your own.

Hi Joey
Tried again using Store. Before it was on normal.
But it gave me again: “Invalid file, please correct file.”
It’s zipped at root level, only 1 Alaska folder.
Do I need to edit meta.xml like you said in the other topic?
no you don’t need to edit the meta.xml
Question: did you successfully upload the original un-edited theme ?
Ok, i removed RSS,Photos,Music,Games for you … it works fine

Note: You cannot remove anymore items … there needs to be at Least 5 on screen

Are the menu picture dimensions set or will they auto adjust?
Thanks!

Yes Joey, I could upload all dark/light themes and this last one that you edited for me.
I made some tests. I unzipped and re-zipped your last edited theme without touching anything and got the same error.
Then I tried to extract only the file I was going to edit and reinsert it again.
And it worked like a charm!
I don’t know why but I couldn’t make it work if I extracted everything to a folder, edited and then archived again.
Thanks for your help!
I dunno whats going on ?
I’ve always used WinRAR 3.10 Beta 2 without any issues.

I don’t know what the problem was, but I extracted only the file I needed to edit and not the whole folder and it worked.
Thanks for the skin and I’m waiting to test the new versions!
Hey Joey
Just want to let you know that this is pretty much the perfect theme and i have it on all my Hubs and SMPs
I was just wondering if you could post the PNG image of the Video Gallery view (the 12 thumbnails view) that isn’t darkened? It’s a great affect but with the selected item having a red outline and being enlarged I feel the item is featured.
I tried taking a PNG from another folder that isn’t darkened but it’s sizing is off by just a bit, just curious if you could post the clearn PNG border for that view I believe it’s under the image folder and then the one that is just “video” folder.
I totally understand if you don’t want people messing with your themes, and i’ll still use it as it is my favorite. Just thought i’d ask.
Thanks
Hi All,
I am using Alaska Resurance Dark and i’ve gone through and tag’d all my music with Media Monkey and mp3 tag and it still shows like this without the album art. What am I doing wrong?
I have the same problem when I us another theme, it doesn’t show the album art in the song selection screen.
You need to have the image in the folder. Call it folder.jpg
I have jpg’s in each folder for each album called folder.jpg.
When I play a song, the album art shows in the big box for a minute then moves down to the little picture art for now playing.
It doesn’t make sense.
Try copying folder.jpg and renaming the copy to the same as the folder or same as the m3u playlist if you have one
That did it!! Thank you!
Now I have to do all the other albums. Maybe Media Monkey can do it or something for me.
Looks like i’m gonna have to fix the default icon (did’nt notice this since all my music has artwork and folder jpegs)
I’m not familiar with Media Monkey … but there are Media Monkey scripts you could try
eg. Album Art Tagger 5.1 *may* do what you need ??

whatever you try, do a test with a couple of albums (cus, batch processing if done incorrectly can make a mess of things)
