Amy Jackson On Her Bollywood Journey & Return To Acting After A Five-Year Pause — Red Sea Studio

Amy Jackson On Her Bollywood Journey And Return To Screens In 2 Films

EXCLUSIVE: Despite heralding from the north of England, Amy Jackson is known primarily for her work in Indian cinema. This week, the British actress and model stopped by our Red Sea Film Festival studio to discuss how that came to be and what’s coming up for her after a five-year hiatus.

The 2.0, Singh Is Bliing and Thanga Magan star, who also played the character Saturn Girl in CBS hit Supergirl, has worked in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada films.

Describing her journey, Jackson talked to us about starting out in Indian cinema aged only 16: “When you’re that young, you embrace it,” she told us. “I fully embraced that world, it was amazing.”

The actress, who was at the Red Sea Film Festival with actor partner Ed Westwick, described her role in Supergirl as “possibly a favourite role” and said she’d be happy to don a cape or head into outer space for future roles: “I am alien obsessed. I am totally into space and parallel universes…I would love to do more of that for sure”.

Jackson burst onto the Bollywood scene as a teen and continued to act in her early twenties but has rarely been on screen over the last five years, largely due to the pandemic and parenting (the actress has a young son). But that is set to change: the actress currently has two Bollywood films in post-production and another project — a U.S. series — is due to film in Q1 next year.

As for the films in post, she will play a Europol agent in Reliance’s sports action film CrakkJeetegaa Toh Jiyegaa!, which is starring Vidyut Jammwal and Arjun Rampal in the story which charts the journey of a man from the slums of Mumbai to the world of underground extreme sports.

She’s also in post on Mission Chapter I in which she stars with Arjun Vijay. This time, the actress plays a British guard at London’s Wandsworth prison. “There is a lot of action and a big escape attempt,” promises Jackson. Both are due for release next year.
