ISPE NL Emerging Leaders community organises the event "Quality - Umbrella of Pharma" in Leiden Bio Science Park for undergraduates, recent graduates, students, young professional and emerging leaders with less than 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. The aim of the event is to elaborate on the importance of the roles in demand within pharma: Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Engineering (QE), Quality Control (QC), Qualified Person (QP), Responsible Person (RP). How can you educate yourself on these roles to begin with or to develop your career? QA officer: a police or an advisor? What does it mean to be compliant and which regulations are applicable? Senior experts in the field will share their knowledge and insights. This knowledge will help participants to gain the right skills towards becoming successful QA, QE, QC, RP or QP professionals. ISPE NL Emerging Leaders team held their first event of the year on 12 April 2024 with a new twist: this time with an emphasis on the trends in clinical research/trials. The seminar "Navigating Clinial Research: Boundless Horizons and Promising Paths" was aimed at recent graduates, young professionals or professionals looking for a career pivot in the clinical research industry. Esteemed speakers Gregory Deira, Clinical Operations Manager at Syneos Health, and Natalija Vukadinović, Senior Recruitment Partner at Fortrea, covered extensively what clinical research and clinical trials entail. Gregory Deira set the stage by giving a high level overview of the different phases of clinical trials, its duration, the purpose of each of the phases on the continuum of the spectrum that starts a drug/device inception to marketing the drug/device. After that Natalija Vukadinović covered various career prospects within the clinical research/trial industry and ways to tailor a resume as per the requirements of a Clinical Research Organization (CRO). It was a very engaging session that delivered a core message, piqued the curiosity of the audience and an eye opening moments for many to learn about placebo, randomization, blinded/double blinded studies, and the amount of time that go into unveiling the drug product/device in a pharmacy store. The seminar was followed by the networking session with drinks and snacks kindly provided by BioPartner Leiden with support of Leiden Bio Science Park.
