Kylie Minogue is at an all-time peak of her career and as she reflects on her latest successes, she’s got a message for women everywhere.

The Australian singer, 55, has spent the last several decades securing her position as a leader in the pop music world, but in recent months, she’s earned some of her biggest releases of all-time. As she reflects on the ups-and-downs she’s experienced, she tells PEOPLE that the advice she’d give women is simple: “There’s one of you.”

“I’ve yet to put that in a song, but I would love to. In every yesterday and every tomorrow, there’s just you,” she says on the red carpet at the Billboard Women in Music Awards on Wednesday.

“We spend so much time trying to better ourselves or judge ourselves or whatever. I kind of want to say be the best you, but also you don't have to be the best all the time, just be you,” she continues.

Thinking about her attendance at the star-studded event — where she was one of the night’s honorees and received the coveted icon award — Minogue adds, “Just from being here tonight, there’s hills and valleys and trying to always keep the middle ground.”

Ultimately, Minogue advises: “Do you at all different stages of your life.”

After she received the honor, Minogue reflectedon the award on X (formerly Twitter) as she thanked Billboard for the “amazing moment.”

“So honoured to bring this beautiful memory (and crystal dream) home. 💖 Tonight (and the last few days for that matter) have been just BEYOND! My love and thanks to all!!!!! 😘😘😘.”

Minogue receiving the icon award comes as the cherry on top of sorts after a whirlwind few months since she released “Padam Padam,” one of the songs of the summer, and her 16th studio album, Tension, was her highest-charting album on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart in over a decade. “I’m just enjoying the ride,” she told PEOPLE of the recent success.

A portion of the single’s success was thanks to TikTok, where it became one of the app’s signature viral sounds. "None of us could even consider that, so it was such a nice surprise," she told PEOPLE of the virality of the song. Even still, she said of TikTok: “I don't know if it's for me.”

Regardless of the method, Minogue said of her renewed fame, "It's been a lifetime of work. There's a lot of people, lots of love, ups and downs and everything in between. I think I love it more than I've ever loved it."

Her intention with Tension was just to “better what I’ve done before,” and the rest of it is just a “bonus.”

“To have this moment where it feels like it was meant to be, but it wasn't something that I was aiming for, feels so refreshing and amazing to, once again, like in the '80s, have this multigenerational moment. It's truly beautiful and heartwarming.”
