Armand Hammer—the rap duo comprising billy woods and Elucid—have shared the video for their new song with Pink Siifu, “Trauma Mic.” Produced by DJ Haram (of 700 Bliss), it’s the lead single from their forthcoming LP, We Buy Diabetic Test Strips, due out September 29 via Fat Possum. They’ve also announced a run of fall tour dates in Europe and North America. Check out the video for “Trauma Mic”—directed by Henry Nelson and Tim Blake Nelson—and the full list of dates below.

The group teased We Buy Diabetes Test Strips with a series of postcards, flyers, and phone numbers that led to album pre-saves and details. The album features guest appearances from Junglepussy, Soul Glo’s Pierce Jordan, Curly Castro, Cavalier, and Moor Mother. The album features live instrumentation (including flute from the Comet is Coming’s Shabaka Hutchings) and production from Jpegmafia, El-P, Kenny Segal, Black Noi$e, Preservation, August Fanon, Steel Tipped Dove, Child Actor and Sebb Bash.

Elucid shared a statement on the process of recording the album:

This sort of reverse engineering of talented players who met for the first time in the studio jamming to pre-recorded beats before splintering off into new directions. Being in the room quietly watching 4 people fumble around each other's sonic worlds before finally locking into a solid groove was a clear and obvious magical moment for me.

Armand Hammer’s last album was 2021’s Alchemist collaboration Haram. Earlier this year, billy woods released the LP Maps with Kenny Segal; Elucid’s last solo album was I Told Bessie in 2022.
