Recently when I was having my tea with Marie biscuits I came up with the idea of sharing the story behind Marie biscuits.

For those of us who have eaten a variety of biscuits since childhood, Marie Biscuits is one of the most memorable biscuits ever. Because, Marie Biscuits is a type of biscuit that tastes better when soaked with tea. Although any biscuit can be soaked, but Marie Biscuits have a different taste. Because, Marie's biscuits are made in such a way that they taste better when soaked. We have eaten a lot of Marie Biscuits from local brands like Munchee and Maliban, etc.

'Mari' is one of the most popular biscuits in the world as it is inexpensive and suitable for any occasion. Even if it's inexpensive Can you believe "Marie Biscuits is a royal meal?" Marie Biscuits is a type of biscuit designed to be served to the British royal tea table.

In 1874, Maria Alexandrovna, (The daughter of the late Tsar of the Russian Empire), and Prince Edward, (The son of Queen Victoria) And the marriage took place. So the British Empire was highly prepared for their marriage. Meanwhile, wedding dresses, shoes, jewelry, a wedding cake and a royal chariot were prepared for the wedding. What was special was that an official biscuit was made to welcome Princess Maria to the Kingdom of Britain. This biscuit was created by 'Peek Freans', a large bakery in London. It was named 'Maria Biscuit' after Princess Maria.

Making a biscuit for a royal wedding is not an easy task. Because of this, 'Peek Freans' used the best bakers, the best tasters and the highest quality ingredients. Also, this was prepared so that anyone in the country could buy it for the least amount of money. Therefore, the recipe of these 'Maria Biscuits' is prepared using the four ingredients of wheat flour, sugar, sunflower oil and vanilla extract which were abundant in the country. That recipe is still used today to make Marie biscuits.

Since then, Maria Biscuits have become increasingly popular around the world as 'Mari, Maria and Marriott'. Therefore, around 1880, commercial production of Marie Biscuits began. In honor of the Marie Biscuits, which were started by the Preek Freans Company in 1874, all companies use a similar round shape to the Marie Biscuits.

As a result of this, 'Marie Biscuits' all over the world take on a similar shape. It is two inches wide and one side is completely flat and the other side is made to swell when the biscuit is baked. The name 'Marie' is printed on the biscuit in the British royal font in a trench width exactly in the middle of the biscuit. There is definitely a wavy pattern around the edge of the biscuit and there are a few rows of round holes inside. The name of the biscuit maker is above and below the name of 'Marie'. All of these features can be found in almost any Marie biscuit in the world.

Nowadays, many companies are working to increase the nutritional value of 'Mari' biscuits by adding various vitamins, minerals etc.A special 'Light Marie' with reduced oil and sugar content, a chocolate flavored Marie biscuit as well as a special type of rice flour Marie have been introduced to the market. Marie Biscuits made in Sri Lanka are currently exported to more than 60 countries. Another specialty of Marie Biscuits is that they can be used to make a variety of dishes. It is mainly used in making cakes and puddings. In addition, 'Marie' can be used as a solid food for babies. It can also be easily digested by babies by soaking it in milk.
