‘The Dive’ Trailer: Louisa Krause & Sophie Lowe Star In New Anxiety-Inducing Deep Sea Thriller

Everyone loves a deep-sea survival thriller, right? Take a beautiful day, two friends, an unexpected turn of events, and a near-disaster, and voila, all the ingredients for nail-biting intrigue, whether its sharks, lack of oxygen, or worse. That’s pretty much the same premise for the new thriller, “The Dive.” Starring Louisa Krause (“Dark Waters,” “The Girlfriend Experience”) and Sophie Lowe (“Medieval,” “Blow The Man Down”), “The Dive” is directed by Max Erlenwein (“Stereo”) and features a script co-written with Joachim Hedén (“Breaking Surface”).

Billed as a deep-sea thriller, “The Dive” centers on two sisters who go diving at a beautiful, remote location. One of the sisters is struck by a rock, leaving her trapped 28 meters below. With dangerously low levels of oxygen and cold temperatures, it is up to her sister to fight for her life.

Krause is probably best known for her role on “Billions,” and the Australian Lowe is maybe best remembered for coming super close to landing the lead role in David Fincher’s adaptation of “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.” While she missed that star-making turn, she’s still gone on to good work and we can hopefully file “The Dive” under that marker too.

Here’s the official synopsis:

A deep-sea diving trip at one of the world’s most remote spots becomes a fight for survival for sisters Drew and May when a catastrophic landslide sends rocks tumbling into the sea. After being struck by the rockfall, May now lies 28 meters below the surface, trapped by debris and unable to move. With dangerously low levels of oxygen, it is up to Drew to fight for her sister’s life. She must put her own life in jeopardy and risk paying the ultimate sacrifice. But with no help in sight, time is quickly running out…

“The Dive” swims into theaters on August 25, 2023. Watch the first trailer below.
