Amid the Israel-Hamas war, an Indian Air Force C17 aircraft carrying humanitarian assistance for Gazans departed for the El-Arish airport in Egypt on Sunday.
The C17 aircraft is carrying 32 tonnes of aid for civilians in Gaza caught up in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. This is the second IAF aircraft carrying humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on his official X account reaffirmed India's commitment to extend humanitarian assistance to Gazans. "We continue to deliver humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine. Second @IAF_MCC C17 aircraft carrying 32 tonnes of aid departs for the El-Arish Airport in Egypt," he said.
Around 38 tonnes of aid for people caught up in the ongoing ground offensive by the Israeli forces in the Strip was sent earlier.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) recently had said that New Delhi was planning to send more humanitarian assistance to the affected civilians in the region.
Fluids, painkillers, tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, basic sanitary utilities, and water purification tablets, among other items are included in the aid packages.
Israel's military operations in Gaza were launched in response to the Hamas terror attacks in southern Israel on October 7, which left over 1,400 dead.
