Extension Sets
Extension sets are used with MIC-KEY* low profile feeding tubes to help deliver nutrition, fluids, and medications. They also may be used for venting. One end will be attached to the feeding port of your tube, and the other will be attached to your feeding source (pump, syringe, feeding set). Your care team will indicate if you should be using a bolus or continuous set, or in some cases, you may use both. Extension sets can come in multiple lengths, configurations, and may feature an ENFit® or Non-ENFit® connector. Be sure you have a syringe that matches the connector on your extension set so you can administer feeds and/or flush as indicated. Proper care and flushing is very important to help your tube work properly.
What Does an Extension Set Look Like?
MIC-KEY* Continuous Extension Set
The extension set attaches to any MIC-KEY* feeding tube when nutrition, fluids, or medication needs to be given. Continuous sets are used when feeding small amounts constantly throughout the day (or night) without interruption.
MIC-KEY* Bolus Extension Set
The extension set attaches to any MIC-KEY* feeding tube when nutrition, fluids, or medication needs to be given. Bolus sets are used when large amounts of nutrition are delivered through the tube.
