Description

Subject Matter:

This photograph by Anthony Goicolea is an early work from the series "You and What Army," in which Giocolea uses techniques and themes that he has developed throughout his career. He digitally alters images, placing himself in a single image multiple times. The artist serves as makeup artist, costume designer, set designer, and editor of each image, transforming himself into an adolescent boy. In this image, Giocolea recalls Leonardo's Last Supper without the Christ figure. Here, the boys wear identical, ambigious uniforms based on those worn in Catholic schools.

Physical Description:

A photograph of eight boys, all of which are the same person, voraciously eating a loaf of white bread off a rock in a forest.
