Howard typically serves as a producer on the high-profile narrative films he directs, including recent Amazon feature “Thirteen Lives.” But his most notable work as a producer is arguably his increasingly prolific output of nonfiction content via his company’s Imagine Documentaries division. This year he produced and directed the feature “We Feed People,” about José Andrés and his World Central Kitchen’s global efforts in natural disasters, which garnered an Emmy nod for outstanding documentary; and produced director Lawrence Kasdan’s Disney+ docuseries “Light & Magic,” about legendary VFX house Industrial Light & Magic, and Amy Poehler’s feature doc “Lucy & Desi,” which won a pair of Emmys. Howard is at work on both his first animated feature, Netflix’s “The Shrinking of Treehorn,”and “Henson,” a doc on Muppets creator Jim Henson.
