Antique Kirsehir Prayer Rug
About the Item
Antique Kirsehir Prayer rug. A lovely example of Anatolian prayer rug tradition from one of the most prolific weaving centers of the country. Erroneously called the "cemetery" design by rug dealers, this is actually a depiction of a pleasure garden with various trees, plants and kiosks, surrounded by a wall that becomes the pointed "prayer arch" at the top of the field of the rug. This rug is a great piece with brilliant colors and excellent wool. Rug is very well preserved.
