In college, I had a roommate who wore Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume every single day. She would put it on before class, after showering, before going to the gym — probably even before she went to bed when I wasn't looking. Our room always smelled the way I imagine Marc Jacobs's powder room smells. While always being bombarded with one scent might sound annoying, if your roommate was going to bathe herself in a fragrance, this was the best one to do it with. And I would be lying if I said I didn't sneak a spritz or two before a big date. (Please don't tell her.)
The thing about Marc Jacobs Daisy is that it's totally unmistakable, a fresh and youthful classic (in moderation — though I do understand why my roommate was completely obsessed with it). Would I coat myself in 10 spritzes several times a day? No. It can be a bit strong off the bat if you're not careful. But worn correctly, it's sweet and subtle. I don't have a signature scent because I just love too many of them, but this one is in regular rotation for me.
Just in case you haven't smelled it, it’s a bit like if you rolled through a field of daisies and then, because you need to get the shot for your Instagram, you went strawberry-picking in your high-waisted shorts and pink flower crown. My biggest problem with most perfumes is what I like to call "grandma smell" (no offense, Grandma — love you), which is that kind of mature, musky aroma that you would get if you were to stick your face in a bowl of potpourri and inhale. Marc Jacobs Daisy is the polar opposite of that. The white floral mixed with intense green notes, like violet leaves, makes for a really simple, fresh, and playful bouquet. You might need to reapply after a few hours, but I would rather do that than battle a headache all day.
And speaking of Instagram, the bottle is, of course, irresistibly adorable with its big white blooms and glowing golden color. So snap and spritz away — no daisy field required.
