A new guide to trekking in the Karakoram! Nestled in the north of Pakistan, the Karakoram is one of the wildest and most desolate mountain ranges in the world. Tourism here is not as developed as in Nepal, but the people’s friendliness and willingness to help trekkers achieve their goals is unquestionable. Traversing turbulent rivers and tumbling glaciers below sheer rock faces and soaring towers, a trek to K2 Concordia will give more than enough memories to last a lifetime. If K2 is not for you, the adjacent Hindu Kush mountains near Gilgit, Hunza and Ishkomen offer more gentle, shorter but also spectacular trekking. Pakistan has been in the news for all the wrong reasons – it’s time to put it firmly back on the tourist map where it truly belongs.

Having trekked to K2 Base Camp and over the Gandogoro La this past July, I can tell you that this is an ideal guide to the region. No, it does not have lovely color photos, but it is full of practical, up-to-date information about trekking in the Karakoram. Sian Prichard-Jones and Bob Gibbons are to be commended on this and their many other mostly self-published trekking guides!

ist mit dem alten Lonely Planet nicht vergleichbar - dieser war sowohl beim K2 Trek als auch in den anderen Karakorum Bergen wesentlich ausführlicher,

5.0 out of 5 stars This is more than just a simple trekking guide !

This guide to the Karakorum mountains in the far north of Pakistan, is not just a trekking guide but comprehensive review of the geography, mountaineering history and its people. This narrative is clearly written with the benefit of firsthand knowledge having covered the ground on foot and by local jeep.
Trekking in these remote and incredibly stunning mountains is an unforgettable experience. This book describes the area with a passion that comes from years of trekking and travelling in mountains and remote parts of the world.
I thoroughly recommend this guide to anyone who is planning a trip to the Karakorum or has already trekked in the area and wishes to re kindle memories.
It is a pity that the photos are not in colour to show off the scenery to its best, but no doubt the print cost would be prohibitive.

Very poor quality grainy black and white photos and poor quality paper !! Very disappointed literally the worst guide book I have purchased . I don't know how this is meant to inspire anything.
I haven't read it to be fair but this one is going back
