Reykjavik Pride!
Hinsegin dagar

Since its inception in 1999, Reykjavik Pride has become an extraordinary annual tradition. Although the first Reykjavik Pride Parade graced the streets in August 2000, its roots trace back to 1993 when courageous Icelandic gays and lesbians united in the heart of Reykjavik, demanding freedom and human rights.

What began as a cozy gathering witnessed by around fifteen hundred onlookers has blossomed into an awe-inspiring, nearly week-long extravaganza. Today, Reykjavik Pride draws over 100 thousand visitors from around the globe, transforming the city into a vibrant tapestry of color and joy and has gained the reputation of being "the world's biggest small Pride!"

The Reykjavik Pride program starts on Tuesday 8th of August and ends on the Sunday 13th. The pinnacle of the week will be the Pride parade held on the Saturday, 12th of August.

Reykjavik Pride is organized and hosted by the non-profit organization Hinsegin dagar í Reykjavik – Reykjavík Pride. For more information on Reykjavik Pride click here.
