In a close competition, the University of Florida, in their canoe dubbed Free Floatin', pulled out the win at the 2019 ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition by coming in first for their oral presentation and design paper and then being in the first five places for all five of the actual races (men's slalom, women's slalom, men's sprint, women's sprint, and co-ed sprint). Close behind was California Polytechnic University, Universite Laval, Tongji University, and Western Kentucky University. The innovation award was won by the University of Pureto Rico.
