The Devialet Dione Opéra is an all-in-one home cinema solution, filling your room with spacious Dolby Atmos sound using no less than 17 built-in speakers — all packed into a slim, powerful bar. Powered by French engineering
Devialet is well-known for their innovative acoustical expertise, and the Dione sound bar integrates several of their patented technologies to optimize your sound for home cinema. This allows an ultra-thin bar to deliver big sound with subtle detail. Advanced spatial processing and real-time dynamic equalization work together with high-powered built-in amplification and Devialet's carefully designed aluminum drivers for a wide soundstage with realistic effects, drawing you into the action onscreen.
High-quality streaming
You can control this sound bar and play music from your mobile device using the Devialet App. Built-in dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and Universal Plug 'n' Play (UPnP) give you plenty of options to stream high-quality audio of your favorite music. The bar comes with built-in Spotify Connect, and the app supports a ton of streaming services like Deezer, Qobuz, Apple Music, TIDAL, and Amazon Music.
The Dione also benefits from a high-quality built-in DAC (digital-to-analog converter) for detailed, accurate sound and support for high-res audio sources up to 24-bit/96kHz.
Hands-on listening with the Dione
When I first got my hands on the Devialet Dione, I was curious to see how well it handled quiet moments like dialogue, but I also wanted get a feel for its low frequency performance — it's supposed to be an all-in-one home theater system, after all. So, I tested the Dione with a movie first, picking the action-packed X-Men: Apocalypse. If I had any doubts about the bar's ability to handle both ends of the spectrum, they were quickly dashed. The Dione rocks.
I was immediately struck by just how crisp and detailed the sound was, especially the voices. Even during hectic action scenes, I never missed a word. Speaking of action, the Dione delivers way bigger, deeper bass than its slim figure would lead you to believe. When Magneto taps into the earth's magnetic field and rips up an entire factory, the low rumble resonated hard enough in our break room that I was almost worried I'd disturb my coworkers. But then I remembered I work at Crutchfield. It's par for the course here.
Not just for movies
After I'd watched Quicksilver save an entire school of mutants in slow motion to the beat of "Sweet Dreams" by the Eurythmics, I decided it was time to check out some more tunes. It only took a few seconds to pair up my phone with Bluetooth and away I went. In a moment of whimsy, I decided the best song for my ear (and funny bone) would by "Tribute" by Tenacious D. Jack Black's crescendo of nonsense words never sounded better.
Impressions from our team
I wasn't the only person here at Crutchfield that had the opportunity to spend some time with the Dione. My fellow writer David, who set up our demo at HQ, had this to say: "We demoed [the Dione] in a space far larger than most household rooms, and it still poured out a huge amount of clear, strong audio. And all without a separate subwoofer. After testing it with Dredd and The Incredibles, I could tell a lot of engineering went into the Dione."
There was a bit of a buzz from folks at HQ after the demo, so we had the Dione brought down to our call center in Southwest Virginia as well. Athena, who spent years as one of our Advisors and has recently joined our writing staff, let me know that she tested out several Hi-Fi tracks with Tidal: "...transitioned effortlessly from Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" to Outkast's "Hey Ya." [The Dione] has very respectable bass for a solo bar, good clarity at lower volumes, and no distortion at higher frequencies."

Built-in AirPlay 2
Apple fans are in good hands. AirPlay 2 lets you stream using an iPhone® or iPad® and connect the sound bar to the AirPlay ecosystem. If you're a subscriber to Apple Music®, you can also use Siri to control and play that service with your voice too.
Compact design with a unique, rotating center channel speaker
This sleek sound bar can be placed on a tabletop, but it looks especially slick mounted on the wall. Its ultra-thin design makes it easy to place under most TVs, and its unique spherical center speaker automatically adjusts based on the bar's positioning. This means that you're getting the same great sound whether you place it flat on a tabletop or mount it vertically on a wall.
Simple setup
An HDMI eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel) connection lets the bar receive uncompressed audio signals — including Dolby Atmos — from an eARC-equipped TV with just the one HDMI cable. It's also simple to customize your sound with four built-in modes: Cinema, Spatial, Music, and Voice. You can switch between them with a quick swipe, and even tailor the sound to your room with a quick auto-calibration scan using the Devialet App.

Opera De Paris Edition: The Devialet Dione Opera De Paris collector's edition features a sleek design with a 22-carat moon gold central plate, inspired by the gilded interiors of Paris's Opera Garnier.
5.1.2 Dolby Atmos: The Devialet Dione uses 8 high-definition audio channels, including to elevation Height channels to create enveloping 3-dimensional effects and expand the width of the soundstage. The 8 audio channels are configured in a 5.1.2 layout with advanced channel splitting depending on the soundbar orientation (horizontally on a shelf or vertically on a wall). The Devialet Dione is natively compatible with Dolby Atmos, using the latest innovations in multichannel and object-based audio. Originally designed for the film industry, Dolby Atmos delivers layered 3D sound from above, taking the viewer's experience into a 3-dimensional space. Dolby Atmos is used by filmmakers in the mixing stage to place sounds and voices at exact points in the soundstage rather than simply assign them to specific channels. With Dolby Atmos, the Devialet Dione can distribute sounds in space with 3D effects that make the listener perceive airplanes as if they were flying overhead.

This custom software takes into consideration multiple acoustic parameters that might impact the audio quality such as room size, walls, furniture, layout, and the placement of the soundbar inside the room to create an accurate representation of the surrounding space. HDMI 2.1 eARC Jack: The Devialet Dione is equipped with an HDMI 2.1 eARC jack. eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) is the next generation of ARC (Audio Return Channel), and enables the Devialet Dione to receive the original full-resolution audio signal in lossless formats at the highest bit rate possible. The HDMI eARC input is backward compatible, so it can be used with earlier versions of the HDMI ARC specification without any issue.
- eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel): eARC will support lossless multichannel audio formats such as Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD, as well as compressed multichannel audio formats like Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus.

- The HDMI 2.1 eARC jack provides audio transmission only and does not support video transmission.
Optical Digital Input: In addition to HDMI connectivity, the Devialet Dione is outfitted with an optical (toslink) digital input that supports Dolby Digital (up to 5.1ch) and 2ch PCM.
- The optical digital input does not support Dolby Atmos or Dolby TrueHD.
- The Devialet Dione is not equipped with an analog audio input.
Mounting Options: The Devialet Dione can be simply positioned on a tabletop, or mounted on the wall using the integrated keyhole slots and mounting lugs (mounting screws not included). The Devialet Dione comes with the ability to intelligently arrange speaker channel splitting based on the position of the soundbar (flat on a shelf or mounted on a wall). This is achieved with the help of Devialet App (for Apple iOS 11.0+ / Android OS 5.0+) and its internal gyroscope, plus Devialet's latest virtualization technology to seamlessly enhance multidimensional sound and offer the full immersive experience no matter the position of the speaker. You'll be asked to actively confirm the detected position of the soundbar before finalizing the soundbar's installation within the Devialet App. After confirmation of the final position, speaker channel mixing will be intelligently adapted to the orientation of the soundbar.

Notes:
- The ORB central sphere driver has to be manually oriented based on whether the speaker will be tabletop or wall mounted.
- Avoid placing any objects on top of the soundbar, and always leave the sides of the soundbar unobstructed.
- When tabletop mounting the soundbar, make sure to leave some space between the wall and Devialet Dione.
High Quality Construction Enclosure: The Devialet Dione soundbar speaker's enclosure is carefully crafted with premium material all around, with the central core body made from anodized aluminum and coated with an acoustic fabric over the front, side, and to firing drivers.
Detachable AC Power Cord: The Devialet Dione comes with a detachable 6' AC power cord (C7/2-prong), that plugs into the back of the active soundbar speaker and into an AC power outlet or surge protector (sold separately - see Accessories Tab).
Network & Bluetooth Audio
Wired or Wireless Network Connection: The Devialet Dione offers wired (Ethernet) and wireless (WiFi) network connectivity. The soundbar is outfitted with a rear-panel RJ45 (LAN) Ethernet jack for a wired network connection. It also features built-in 2.4/5GHz dual-band WiFi (802.11ac) for wireless network connectivity. By connecting the Devialet Dione to your wired or wireless network, you be able to access local network stored music libraries via UPnP, stream Apple iOS music via AirPlay 2, and listen to your favorite music playlists on Spotify.
Note: The Devialet App (for Apple iOS 11.0+ and Android OS 5.0+) is required for initial network setup.
AirPlay 2: AirPlay 2 is an advanced and easy-to-use wireless multiroom audio platform for iTunes, Apple Music, and other compatible Apple iOS apps. With AirPlay 2 you can play any sound from your Apple iOS device (running iOS 11.4 or later) or Mac computer (running OS X 10.13.2) on the Devialet Dione and other compatible AirPlay 2 speakers throughout your home. You will also be able to ask Siri-enabled devices (like your Apple iPhone, iPad, or Watch) to control playback of your Apple Music on the Devialet Dione soundbar speaker system. You can choose to play audio in one room, play the same audio in grouped rooms, or play the same audio in every room. If you are an Apple Music subscriber, you can even play different music in different rooms (you can control and group directly from Apple's Music App and Home app on your Apple iOS device). You can even watch videos and movies from YouTube and Netflix on your compatible Apple iOS device or Mac computer with perfectly synced audio on the Devialet Dione.
Spotify Connect: The Devialet Dione offers Spotify Connect support, so you can stream millions of songs from your portable device with ease. You will need to subscribe to Spotify Premium and have the Spotify App on your Apple iOS or Android smartphone, so you can stream Spotify to the soundbar system. Spotify is a digital music service that gives you on-demand access to one of the largest music libraries in the world (over 15 million tracks and counting). Spotify makes it easier than ever to discover, manage, and share music with your friends. You can browse music by artist, album, track, or most popular; and create your own music library with customized playlists.
UPnP (Universal Plug-n-Play): The Devialet Dione is UPnP compatible, which enables you to play your digital music library stored on UPnP servers (such as a network server with integrated UPnP software,Windows PC, or Mac OS X computer) through the soundbar speaker system. You can stream a variety of compressed, lossless, and high-res music files. UPnP file browsing can be carried out using the Devialet Phantom App (for Apple iOS and Android). The Devialet Dione supports streaming digital music files up to 24-bit/96kHz. Supported music file formats include - MP3, AAC, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC, WMA, and Ogg Vorbis.
Bluetooth 5.0: Built-in Bluetooth 5.0 allows you to wirelessly stream stored music, music apps, and other audio content from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer to the Devialet Dione soundbar speaker system. You can operate basic playback functions such as Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track from the soundbar's top-panel controls or using the optional Devialet Remote (sold separately). You'll continue to use your Bluetooth source device to control advanced playback functions and to view song/artist/album information. You can pair multiple Bluetooth devices with the soundbar, but only one can be connected and used for playback at a time. The unit supports SBC and AAC Bluetooth codecs (not compatible with aptX).
Simple Intuitive Control
Devialet Control App: The Devialet App (for Apple iOS 11.0+ and Android OS 5.0+) allows you to setup and control the Devialet Dione soundbar system from your compatible smartphone or tablet device. This is the same mobile app used to control Devialet's Phantom Series of wireless powered speakers.
- Initial Setup: The Devialet application provides simple initial setup to connect to your wireless network router, as well as activates auto room calibration to make sure the soundbar sounds its best in your particular room.
- Source Selection: The Devialet app provides access to the soundbar's variety of sources including HDMI eARC, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, UPnP, and Bluetooth.
- Audio Settings: The app controls the soundbar's Volume Up/Down, as well as the SPACE technology listening modes - Movie, Spatial, music, or Voice).
- Firmware Updates: The Devialet application also notifies you of the latest firmware and software updates, so they can be downloaded to the soundbar speaker over a wired or wireless network connection.
Optional Wireless Remote: The optional Devialet Remote (sold separately) can be used to wirelessly control the Devialet Dione soundbar speaker system. Basic control functions include Power On/Off, Volume Up/Down, Play/Pause, and Previous/Next Track. Advanced soundbar functions will still need to be done from the Devialet App. The Devialet Remote wirelessly pairs and connects to the Devialet Dione soundbar via Bluetooth 5.0 with a wireless range of up to 65'. The remote is powered by an integrated lithium-ion battery that can last up 2.5 months and be quickly recharged via a USB power source.
HDMI CEC: The Devialet Dione supports HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) via its HDMI 2.1 eARC jack. HDMI CEC gives you the ability to control basic functions of the soundbar speaker system from your TV's remote control. Control functions include Power On/Off, Volume On/Off, and Mute. Advanced soundbar functions will still need to be controlled from the Devialet App.
No Remote Control Included: The Devialet Dione does not come with its own remote control. Its designed to be operated through the Devialet Control app on your compatible Apple iOS or Android OS device, operated from your TV's remote control using HDMI CEC, or controlled by the Devialet Remote (sold separately - see Accessories Tab).
