Trinidad Perfume pepper (Capsicum Chinense)
Fresh seed harvested in Sept.-Oct. 2023
I grew nine or more plants in 8 &10 gallon breathable grow bags and placed them out in the middle of nowhere for isolation purposes with saucers under them for watering. The waterboy's walk out to them got to be old news in short order because they were draining the saucers daily, so Einstein jr. decided to drill overflow drain holes in the side of a cute lil' kiddie pool. That worked out much better and I checked them about every 10 days. By late August the 20-24" tall plants were absolutely covered in 1.5"-2.5" plump lantern shaped green pods. More than half were bright yellow by mid September and when October arrived I was just plain tired of picking them, it wasn't dozens but literally 100's of them. To say they are prolific is an understatement.
This great tasting pepper is related to the scorching Habanero family and shares some of the same aroma EXCEPT it has little to no heat. Scoville is 0-500. The first one that I cut open had a distinctive delightful aroma and it also had that all too familiar "hotter than hell" Chinense scent thus, I was very reluctant to eat it lest I make a date nursing the milk jug for 20 minutes again (a tiny nibble of a Naga Viper lit me up good just days earlier, so that remained all to fresh in my mind) I chewed it up and braced for the burn and nothing happened. Exceptional sweet Hab flavor. I really liked these peppers and will be growing them again, just not quite so many.
When cooked the heat really releases the oils which contain all of the hidden flavors and a perfume-like aroma.
The seed needs to be started just like a habanero--8-9 weeks before the last expected frost.
Ships for free the same or next business day via USPS first class mail.
Thanks for considering Zuluseeds.
