This is a hand-beaded art piece that transcends photography, graphic design, and craft. The composition is based on one of the most famous vintage photographs of Egypt from the 20th century. It's a festive piece, dynamic, and colorful that invites the spectator to engage with the labyrinth of beads.
The piece is part of the collection 'UNFAMILIAR FACES', in which I reclaim part of my heritage as a woman and as an Egyptian. Through this piece, along with the six other portraits of the collection, I want to reappropriate the narrative and change the context of how such vintage portraits are read and the message they convey.
