Ex-Soldier Ed Stafford: Being Adopted Made Me Adventurous
Army Veteran Ed Stafford has pushed himself to extremes many times in the spirit of adventure.
When asked what gave him his adventurous spirit, he told Hatch and Geere on Forces Radio BFBS:
"I was adopted and there is a theory that if a baby is separated from its mother it has a massive trauma in its life right at the beginning, as its forming its psyche and I think it's that trauma that gave me this huge desire to go out there and explore things".
In 2010 he became the first person to walk the Amazon River from source to sea.
In his new book, ‘Adventures for a Lifetime’, Ed shares a jaw-dropping selection of hand-picked adventures from far-flung corners of the world, guaranteed to amaze and inspire.
When asked why he left his role in the Devon and Dorset Regiment Ed told Forces Radio BFBS:
"I always look back at my time in the military in a very positive light."
