Sheffield Wednesday fans are reacting after the Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder appeared to take a swipe at the Owls on Thursday.

Speaking ahead of United’s trip to their Rotherham namesakes on Saturday, Wilder told the Sheffield Star: “Like us, they (Rotherham) are a hard-working and a working class club.

“They’re not arrogant and, like us, they don’t get above their station either. They do it similar to us, with good players who are good people as well.

“It will be a different game to the last one (against Wednesday), we’ve watched the tapes and they’ll come for us. They’ll do it in a different way to how we do it, but they’ll do it in their own way.”

Wilder’s Blades were held to a 0-0 draw by the Owls last time out – before and after which the 51-year-old made a point of referencing the amount of money spent by their city neighbours over the past three-and-a-half seasons, in comparison with his side.

And some of a Sheffield Wednesday persuasion are growing tired of Wilder, a lifelong Sheffield United fan and former player.

This is what they’re saying on Twitter…

Sheffield United could go joint-top of the Championship with a win at Rotherham, with Sheffield Wednesday’s primary objective to widen the four-point gap between themselves and the bottom three when Derby County visit Hillsborough later on Saturday afternoon.

Wednesday were sixth in the standings ahead of October’s break for internationals, but have since slipped to 17th – increasing pressure on Wilder’s opposite number Jos Luhukay.
