The atmosphere, gameplay and sounds all work so well that I can do little else but score this game a 10. Not as deep a game as it may present itself but engrossing and addictive nonetheless.

Quite similar, yet quite different to Populous. Better in many ways too, but it lacked the customisability the map editor offered. It had 250 (if I remember right) maps anyway - but all used the same scenery set. So it did have it's downsides. Still a very good game though, one I played a lot during 92 and 93.

Very unique game in its age, almost same good today as 25 years ago. Only the control could be a bit better. Anyway, it's real classics!

A high learning curve for this one, but once you learn the game play mechanics, it is a very addicting and fun game!! This is a real technical marvel as well -- all the little people running around, 3D landscapes, the change of seasons, weather, etc -- and it is awesome what they managed to stuff it all onto one floppy disk for a stock A500! As for the game's difficulty, it is possible to beat - I just did it a few minutes ago - but only after pouring many fun hours into the game. Next up - the World War I expansion pack.

Lots of fun with this game, some of the levels are just impossibly difficult for me, so eventually I gave up, but I loved the experience, one of the best amiga strategy games ever. I don't like too much the world war expansion for some reason, it loses some appeal for me

I still have the big promotional Package where all the Pin and T-Shirt have been. This game gave me very pleasing winterevenings back in 1990/91

My favourite amiga 500 game ever! Not only a game, but a precursor for the newer strategic games, like warcraft, starcraft etc.etc. I don't consider it a Popoulous successor, since here the units control is much more direct than in Popoulous.
Great game, I still play it sometime 9/10

The learning curve was a little high on this one, but I feel if a dumbass like me could get it everyone else should have been able to follow suit. Certainly, this is among my most favorite games on Amiga and I spent some time trying to find games just like it and never did. (PC certainly has its share of these) I found the experience a fun one and slowly conquered a great deal of places on that map. Never did finish but no with lack of trying. Also got the addon that was WW2 I believe. Fun idea but I play it nearly as much as the original.
9/10-flawed a little, but truly one of my favorite game playing experiences on Amiga.

Great game but with some major flaws. The biggest must be player's peoples' stupid AI. When you are moving big forces around the map sometimes they get stuck behind lakes and this is a BIG problem when you are attacking to bigger cities. If this happens you get slaughtered and boy that gets to nerves.

What in the hell were we supposed to do in this game? I just wanted to kill stuff... I ran out of patience.

I agree with some comments on here, I couldn't get into game either but I loved the intro and the music, very good indeed

Always liked the look of this game, but was never able to work out how to actually do anything.

I thought the map was huge with so many levels, then I noticed you cn scroll the map down, which goes down a couple of screens Great game though. A classic!

Could get so far in then always managed to get stuck. Never did see the lone captain supposedly have sex with a sheep during winter as it was supposed to be in there somewhere.

I tried to get into this years ago but couldn't. It looked very good but I failed to understand it back then. I did very much enjoy Populous II though. I think I should like to revisit Powermonger. Oh, and there is a WHDLoad install for it too, nice work

I preferred this to the Populous games and would love to see a modern PC sequel. Incredibly atmospheric and involving.

I loved this game, but as some of the posts say below, it took too long!
Very enjoyable tho'

Because I hadn't had Powermonger disk at AMIGA times, I had played WW1 datadisc only. I completed all maps, it was a little repetetive at the end, but still good fun.
I tried to play original Powermonger over WinUAE emulator, still fun, but TOO LONG.
How it is that I had a time for it years ago ? For this and many more games. It's unbelievaleble. The Earth quickened the rotation or what :-)

While I loved this game (and the WWI add on) the difficulty level on later islands did drag down on it considerably. Also the 3D terrain was a bit ahead of it's time, slowly gameplay down a bit too much. Still, a worthy successor to Populous (or at least it breached the wait until Populous 2 showed up).

Am I only who completed this game? It was great, but unfortunatelly it doesn´t work on other Amigas then A500 and A600. I would like to play it once more...
