Another great report highlighting how AI usage is blossoming in fashion – over 73% of companies surveyed plan to prioritize generative AI in 2024. "First, brands can fine-tune third-party foundation models (e.g. from Cohere, Google or OpenAI) or open-source alternatives like those released by Mistral AI or AI at Meta. Second, brands can consider deploying specialised applications that build on existing foundation models but are tailored to specific uses - like Jasper's marketing content tools or CALA's AI-assisted design platform that provides creative suggestions and converts ideas to production-ready designs." p. 68 - #StateofFashion

Today at #BoFVOICES, we release the eighth annual State of Fashion report by BoF and McKinsey & Company, which forecasts a general industry slowdown in 2024 as geopolitical, economic and sustainability pressures will require brands, retailers and their suppliers to dig deep to continue growing and continuously build resilience. Among the contributing factors shaping the year ahead: economic fragility, geopolitical tensions and the intensifying climate crisis. Against this backdrop, this edition of The State of Fashion — co-produced by The Business of Fashion and McKinsey & Company — explores 10 critical themes that leading brands, retailers and their suppliers must have on their radars in order to not just survive, but thrive, in 2024. Even amid the uncertainty, fashion leaders will be shaping strategies around a range of growth opportunities, from the maturing of gen AI technology to a global travel renaissance taking shoppers to new destinations to the latest generation of influencers reigniting brand marketing. Introducing the #VogueBusiness100 Class of 2023: Tech and Web3 innovators. Karlie Kloss may be one of the most successful #models of the last 20 years, but she's also a leading influencer in the world of #digitalfashion. Having become known as a proponent of technology, Kloss has helped to normalise an industry that can at times be seen as at odds with fashion. Last September, she persuaded Carolina Herrera to digitise and sell the #runway gown that Kloss modelled in the physical show; with pieces selling for more than $5,000 in #Roblox’s peer-to-peer resale market, the project was considered a breakout success that brought viral moments into the metaverse. More recently, Kloss has opened her own digital fashion world inside Roblox, called Fashion Klossette - in keeping with her tradition of fostering emerging talent, Kloss is encouraging aspiring fashion creatives to practise their craft within the world. TL;DR - CALA can help. Just wrapped our first GenAI jam session with folks from apparel, fashion, and luxury. Key questions: 1) How do we start getting value from AI immediately? 2) How do we protect our data? We answered these + gave several examples of how brands can implement diffusion and large language models to get value right away while protecting your propriety data and collective intelligence.
