Now used as an exhibition and concert hall, but initially built to be a Stock Exchange.

Built between 1898 and 1903, the Beurs van Berlage (Dutch for Exchange of Berlage) is an important monument of modern Dutch architecture. There is always something happening in the Beurs van Berlage. On their website you can find what events take place during your visit. If you don’t see anything that interests you, visiting the Beurs van Berlage just to admire the architecture is already worth it. The architecture cannot be assigned to one style: both Neo-Romanesque as well as Art Nouveau characteristics are seen in the design.

Besides holding events, the Beurs van Berlage has its own bistro: Bistro Berlage. Enjoy a meal in the beautiful restaurant that makes you feel like you go back in time, or outside on the terrace. With super friendly staff and good food, you’re guaranteed to have a good time here. But it doesn’t just stop with nice architecture and good food. Inside the Beurs van Berlage, there is an escape room called Sherlocked, that is loved by visitors.

Something else that is definitely worth a visit, is Tony’s Chocolonely Bar, which is also located in the Beurs van Berlage. Tony’s Chocolonely is a (delicious!) Dutch chocolate brand that stands for equality in the chocolate industry and creates awareness about the industry where modern slavery and child labour unfortunately still exists. When visiting the bar, you will learn more about this topic, but you’re also able to try the amazing chocolate Tony’s Chocolonely produces.
