Brooke Shields (56) made waves recently when she hit the beach in the Hamptons with daughters Rowan (18) and Grier (15), all wearing matching gingham cossies and orange hats.

Proving she hasn’t lost any of her modelling skills, the Blue Lagoon actress flaunted her toned body while trying out different poses for the camera with her girls.

It’s not the first time the teenagers have taken fashion inspiration from their famous mother.

Earlier this month Brooke shared that Rowan wore one of her 90s red carpet dresses to her prom.

“I thought it was a special night when I was nominated for a Golden Globe and wore this dress in 1998, but nothing could have prepared me to see my daughter wearing it to her prom,” the proud mom wrote on Instagram.

Mother and daughter even got matching ladybird tattoos to mark Rowan’s graduation.

Some of the other photos from the trio’s outing at Southampton Beach in the swanky Hamptons – getaway destination of the rich and famous – showed Brooke and her daughters snapping selfies and frolicking in the water.

Brooke, who is married to screenwriter Chris Hench – the father of the girls – appeared to celebrate her return to health after undergoing lifesaving surgery earlier this year.

Last month she told Good Morning America’s Deborah Roberts that she feels “so lucky to be alive” after a freak gym accident left her hospitalised with a broken leg.

The January injury occurred while she was on a balance board at a New York gym. She said she took her focus off the board for a split second, and that's when things went wrong.

“I flew up in the air with such force and I landed so heavy and so hard,” she said.

Her head was just centimetres away from hitting a weight bench, she added.

“I felt how solid the impact was. I don’t remember hearing anything. The only thing I could keep saying was that I could feel my toes, because I just knew that I couldn’t move but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t paralysed.”

Paramedics took the Pretty Baby actress to a local hospital, where she underwent surgery to insert a rod into her femur and more metal hardware to stabilise her hip.

But after the fracture shifted again, she had revision surgery to add a metal plate and several screws to anchor it all in place.

The injury left Brooke hospitalised for weeks and just as she was preparing for her recovery to begin at home, she developed a dangerous staph infection in her arm at the site of her IV drip.

She was rushed back for emergency surgery to treat the infection and spent another two weeks in the hospital.

"Once fear crept in, that's when I started to falter," she said of the scary experience, adding that she had to endure the hospital stay on her own due to the pandemic.

"I don't think I've ever been more afraid because I was helpless. My kids actually asked me if they thought I was going to die."

These days the health and fitness fanatic is maintaining a positive outlook and working “very hard” on her rehab.

"If I can turn it into anything positive, or I can teach my girls, yeah, stuff is going to happen in your life, and how you respond is going to define you, and adversity will reveal you," she says.

"I want them to know that they deserve to feel good about themselves and be healthier and happier and bigger, live a bigger life."
