Philicorda GM751 - Dutch Transistor Organ

Post by doctorgeorge »

Hey Everyone!

I just finished making a new sample instrument - I sampled my Philicorda GM751. To my surprise, I just saw that another user recently posted really excellent samples of his Philicorda AG7500, the older all-tube model. The GM751 is transistor-based, and has a somewhat directer feel to it, but still very fat and warm. Excellent for cheesy carnivalesque tunes, but also very usable in other ways.

I've included a little mp3 to demonstrate (a little ditty, followed by Mike Oldfield (added some chorus and reverb), followed by another little ditty):
The only registration I've sampled thusfar is the one with all the octaves and VOX-switches open, no vibrato. I'll make some more in the future and post them here.

Let me know if you like it! :thanx:

Kind regards,

Gerben

Wow, this one sounds really neat compared to mine (for the people who missed it: post11339.html#p11339). I think it's really cool to also have a cleaner, not so shaky version, thanks!

Do you remember which registers (voxes) you used for this sample?

For this one i used all the stops and octaves, but no Vibrato. I'll make other registrations and post them here aswell :)

A friend of mine has a Phili AG7500, i think it's supposed to be a little more shaky and odd, it's part of the charm!

Hello Gerben,

Very nice, your sample and Mp3-file of this Dutch Transistor Organ !
Thanks !! :thanks: The 'Oldfield' notes sound real COOL !!

I didn't know Philips (the name is visible on the instrument in the picture) made these organs. And I'm Dutch myself, ha ha !

Love to hear more of this beauty little thing called Philicorda GM751 !
(the name sounds to me like some kind of accordion made in the Phillippines, ha ha !!)

The sound is Super !

Greetings,

Keys Wizard

wow, great sound! We had a Philicorda (2-manual) at home when I was young in the 70ies...and of course I know this model as well. I always tried to make it sound like a b3 and never arrived there, but then found my own style on it. Sorry having no recordings of that times.
