creating a skin for Kodi

I still can't believe it's been over 12 years since I discovered Kodi (then XBMC). I loved it right from the start, and it wasn't long before I started trying to make some changes to the skin I was using. I soon realized this was going to be an extremely complex and difficult task. Understanding well how Kodi's skin engine works can take years... fortunately I like challenges and I don't give up easily, so after many, many hours of trial and error, reading the Kodi wiki and asking questions on the official forum, I was finally able to make some small tweaks. That motivated me to keep going, and a long time later I was finally able to release my own skin, Aeon Tajo, available now through the official Kodi repository. I'm very happy that so many people from all over the world can now enjoy my work!
I told this so that everybody can understand that creating and maintaining a skin for Kodi is a very long and hard task. It’s not only a matter of code knowledge, but also a kind of art, since it's required to design the look and style of the skin. After that, hundreds of hours must be spent coding, testing and creating images (Aeon Tajo has over 60,000 lines of XML code, and hundreds of images and textures). There’s still much work to do, I have a lot of new ideas, and the current code needs to be improved and adapted to the next version of Kodi, Nexus, so that we can continue to enjoy this skin for a long time to come.
