Liverpool did itself no favors last time out with a 2-0 loss to Everton that gave the upper hand to Arsenal (77 points) and Manchester City (76) in the English Premier League title race. The Reds held possession for 76.1 percent of the contest, fired off 23 shot attempts and logged 13 corner kicks but were still held without a goal. Jarrad Branthwaite scored in the 27th minute for Everton and Dominic Calvert-Lewin stretched the lead to 2-0 with a score in the 58th minute while goalkeeper Alisson Becker was credited with seven saves in the clean sheet performance.

West Ham United currently resides in the eighth and final position for UEFA Europa League bids with its 13-9-12 record and 48 points, but the club still has plenty of work left in order to hold that spot as Chelsea (47) leads a group of five teams looking to take it. An upset victory over Liverpool would be a huge spark in the effort to cling to a top-8 spot, especially after losing back-to-back Premier League matches to Crystal Palace (5-2) and Fulham (2-0)
