2019 Two Continental Nordic Spike 240 Studded Winter Tires

FOR SALE: Two Continental 700 x 42c Nordic Spike 24 [42-622] (240 Studs) Tires

Continental's all-purpose studded ice tire, comes in only one width 42C. Skinny enough to slice through crunchy top-snow, but wide enough to bite into the glassy ice layer beneath. Descent knobs for powder, snow shedding and mud patches during the melt. Perfect for a commuter bike or if you want to take the gravel bike out in the snow. This pair has 6 rides total (we don’t get that much snow in western WA) so the studs are seated but not worn, edges are still sharp. With steel beads and stiff sidewalls, I was able to run the pressure low to get a lot of surface area (and studs) on the ground. The studs are awesome on ice over asphalt… stopping at a red light, I didn’t realize how slick the road was until I put my foot down and my foot slipped, the tires stayed put. Seriously amazing, staying up on two wheels where you can't even stand on two feet! In the dirt, the knobs grip as well as any heavy knob’d cross tire and shed mud and snow well.

Note this is for a pair (2 tires) of the 240 studded tires. The 240's have center and outer rows of studs vs the 120's which are cheaper, but only have outer edge studs (half the studs of these tires).

SIZE: 700 x 42c (knob to knob I measure them at 37mm. Mounted and inflated on 26mm Stan's rims, I measure them at 40mm outside knob to knob)
ETRTO: 42-622 (these are made in Finland so they are marked 28x1.6, a Finnish size I guess, but this is the same as the Euro 700x42 and industry standard ETRTO 622-42)
PRESSURE: 50-65 psi (I'm 175 lbs, and ran them at 35F and 40R psi with inner tubes, great traction, no pinch flats)
