Things might finally be looking up for Tori Spelling. She just moved into a comfortable, five-bedroom rental home in Woodland Hills, California, after spending months crashing at motels and living out of an RV with her children, states British media.

Spelling’s contemporary new abode spans over two floors, features three bathrooms, a pool and spa, and comes with a hefty US$15,000-a-month price tag. It’s a far cry from her most recent digs, living out of a motor home with her five kids just a few months ago, states Us Weekly.

For years, 50-year-old Spelling has made headlines for her troubling living situations and financial woes, despite being one of the most famous faces in Hollywood. What makes her case even more confusing is that Spelling hails from a very wealthy family too.

Here’s everything we know about Spelling’s rollercoaster journey in the spotlight as she’s seemingly returning to Tinseltown-approved “normalcy”.

The American actress, TV personality and author is best known for her role as Donna Martin on Beverly Hills, 90210, which ran from 1990 to 2000. The teen drama was produced by Tori’s father Aaron Spelling, who died in 2006 at age 83.

Tori is the daughter of Aaron and Candy Spelling, who were both involved in the Hollywood scene – especially Tori’s late father. He worked on productions like Charlie’s Angels, Melrose Place and Dynasty and racked up a massive fortune during his lifetime.

In fact, according to Celebrity Net Worth, he had a whopping US$600 million in the bank at the time of his death – which again prompts the question, how did his daughter end up “homeless”, as the media have been putting it?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Tori’s mother Candy inherited Aaron’s entire estate – including many multimillion-dollar properties – upon his death. Good Morning America states that he did not leave much for Tori and her brother Randy though, who both received a mere US$800,000 each in inheritance.

Spelling previously told GMA: “I had a hit TV series, so I didn’t really need [my parents] for anything,” she said, referring to Beverly Hills, 90210, where she made a reported US$70,000 per episode. But all that changed when the show came to an end, with Spelling admitting she had at one point she owed hundreds of thousands of dollars on her credit card due to her “bad shopping habits”.

“Bad shopping habits die hard,” she explained. “In all honesty, I grew up a certain way. I never had to worry about money … that was my reality.”

Fans were shocked when Spelling’s long-time husband Dean McDermott announced his split from the actress after 18 years together, in a post shared last year. “It’s with great sadness and a very very heavy heart that after 18 years together and five amazing children, that @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways, and start a new journey of our own,” he wrote on Instagram. His post has since been deleted.

He told British media that they had slept separately since 2017, after Spelling started bringing pets into the bedroom and bathroom, including a pig, chicken and dogs. “And we know dogs have accidents and our particular dogs were having a lot. And I just couldn’t deal with that any more,” he shared. “So, I created a healthy boundary for myself and I said, I can’t do this. I can’t live and sleep in this kind of condition.”

He also explained how his alcohol and drug addictions negatively impacted his marriage and relationship with his children.

In the meantime, according to Celebrity Net Worth, Spelling’s fortune currently stands at around US$150,000. That’s quite a step down from US$1.5 million in 2022, per Yahoo!
