Go Figure: Jennifer Capriati's HOF run

Jennifer Capriati was elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame last week. Here are some numbers that helped define her career, which Bruce Jenkins wrote about Tuesday on SI.com.

10: Capriati's age when she appeared in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd in March 1987.

13 years, 11 months: Capriati's age when she finished as the Boca Raton runner-up in 1990 in her WTA Tour debut, making her the youngest player in history to reach a final. This led to another SI appearance -- on the cover.

46 years, 4 months: Age of Capriati's doubles partner that week in Boca Raton, where the pair lost in the second round. The player? Billie Jean King.

42-11: Capriati's record in her first year on tour, which included her first title, in Puerto Rico, where at 14 she became the fourth-youngest tournament winner. She set records for youngest player to make the French Open semifinals and youngest player to be ranked in the top 10. She finished the year at No. 8.

14: Career singles titles, the first in 1990 and the last in 2003.

3: Grand Slam singles titles -- 2001 Australian Open, 2001 French Open and the 2002 Australian Open.

17: Weeks spent at No. 1, all in late 2001 and 2002.

1: Career doubles titles. Capriati teamed with Monica Seles to win in Rome in 1991.

0: Matches played in 1995, after playing only one in 1994. During a six-month period after a first-round loss at the 1993 U.S. Open, Capriati was cited for shoplifting, arrested for marijuana possession and spent time in drug rehabilitation.

12: Capriati's seed when she won the 2001 Australian Open. She beat No. 4 Monica Seles in the quarterfinals, No. 2 Lindsay Davenport in the semifinals and No. 1 Martina Hingis in the final.

4-6, 0-4: Deficit that Capriati overcame to beat Hingis in the 2002 Australian Open final. Capriati saved four match points in her 4-6, 7-6 (7), 6-2 victory.

1-10: Capriati's record against Steffi Graf. But the one victory came in the gold-medal match at the 1992 Summer Olympics.

32: Combined age of Capriati, 15, and Seles, 17, when they met in the semifinals of the 1991 U.S. Open, where Seles won an epic match 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (3). Capriati served for the match twice.

3 hours, 3 minutes: Match length of her 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (4) loss to Justine Henin in the 2003 U.S. Open semifinals, another classic involving Capriati in New York. Capriati served for the match in each of the last two sets and led 5-2 in the third but couldn't close out a match in which both players won 127 points.

430-176: Career singles record, a winning percentage of .710.

$10,206,639:
