The 724th Expeditionary Airbase Squadron (724 EAS) stationed at Niger Air Base 201 (AB-201) is part of the 435 Air Expeditionary Wing located in Agadez, Niger. It provides persistent armed ISR capabilities in support of AFRICOM’s objectives in North and West Africa. The austere Airbase was built in 2019 to provide counter VEO operations across the Sahel region. They support various agencies operating MQ-9, MQ-1, and Expeditionary Space Force systems. Their mission is to provide the premier secure, reliable, and flexible airpower projection platform for West Africa. Niger Air Base 201 (also known in some sources as “Nigerien Air Base 201” or “AB-201”) is a United States drone airbase near Agadez, Niger. The base is about 5 km southeast of Agadez. It is owned by the Nigerien military but built and paid for by the United States. It is operated by the U.S. military as a drone base. As of February 2018, the site consists of a runway, still under construction, a hangar, and numerous smaller buildings for personnel to work and live in.
