AN AUSSIE troll has pranked Google by following a Street View camera down the road – and making rude gestures at it along the way.

The pestering gent can be seen strolling down Queen Street in Brisbane on Google Maps, sticking his middle fingers up at the camera.

The man is first spotted in the distance (in brownish clothes, in the top right of the image), but quickly cottons onto the presence of Google's cameras – and hatches a devious plan

You can see the mystery man – with curly brown hair – appear on the busy shopping street, seemingly oblivious to the Street View camera at first.

But then as he gets closer, he spots the camera are begins following it, gesturing all along the road.

He tails the Street View camera right up to a junction, and then disappears from sight.

Based on the movements of other people, it seems as though he's following the camera – rather than walking backwards in front of it.

The man showed great commitment, as he would have had to stop and wait as the camera paused for each 360-degree image capture.

It's not clear whether the person operating the Google Street View camera was aware of the man, given that the troll remained behind it.

We're also not sure whether the images were captured by a Street View car, or by a person wearing Google's Street View backpack.

In any case, the man is completely unidentifiable, as his face has been blurred.

Google has trained its Street View systems to automatically blur any human faces it captures.

It's a way of protecting identities – and masking a prankster, in this instance.

All we know for sure is that the man was pictured on Queen Street in September 2017, and was wearing a green coat, brown trousers, and what appears to be a black V-neck jumper.

This isn't the first time we've seen curious happenings on Google Street View.

Earlier today, we revealed a bizarre "ghost couple" on the website.

The eerie image was captured in Quebec, Canada, showing two people walking side-by-side, their bodies near invisible.

The gaffe is clearly a glitch in the image-capture systems, but it looks creepy enough.

And back in July, a mysterious three-legged girl was spotted walking through an alleyway on Google Street View.

The girl only has two legs, of course, but an image error gives the impression that she's toting an extra limb.

And in March this year, we revealed how Google opened up Disney theme parks on Street View – giving you a cheaper way to visit all 11 locations.

We've asked Google for comment and will update this story with any response.

Do you think this guy's prank is funny, or does he need to find a better use of his time? Let us know in the comments!
