Sébastien Chabal, the former France forward, has announced that he will retire from rugby after Sunday’s match between Lyons and La Rochelle in France’s Pro D2 league.

Chabal was capped 62 times between 2000-11, winning two Six Nations titles in 2007 and 2010. He will end his 16-year playing career on a high having helped Lyons to win the equivalent of the second division championship and return to France’s Top 14 elite.

“At the end of the season, on Sunday, I will end my professional rugby career with pleasure... having helped the club (Lyons) being promoted to the top flight,” Chabal told a news conference on Monday.
