Pello National Border and the Swedish neighbor village

When visiting Pello in Finnish Lapland you shouldn't miss crossing the "friendliest border in the world" and exploring the small village of Swedish Pello (yes, the name is the same) on the other side of the river.

There are some services (grocery store, lunch restaurant, barber, gas station, houseware/clothing store...) and you can also spot some cows and horses on a farm right in the center of the village.

The border river marks the time zone boundary so by crossing to Sweden you get an extra hour!
