Kylie Minogue Shares Her 5 Favourite Fashion Memories
The item of clothing Kylie Minogue is most associated with is a pair of hotpants (the gold lamé micro-shorts she wore in her “Spinning Around” video were displayed in the V&A), but it was a far comfier look that kicked off the star’s fashion journey in earnest. As tomboyish mechanic Charlene Mitchell in Neighbours, Kylie was rarely out of her roomy khaki overalls. “Comfort level, max,” says Minogue of the dungarees that became her trademark back when she was everyone’s favourite soap sweetheart in the late ’80s.
In the decades since, Minogue’s wardrobe has gone from utilitarian staples to Chanel separates, via some seriously spangled Dolce & Gabbana stage looks. Here the star, who marked her 52nd birthday on 28 May by unveiling an eponymous French rosé wine and promising new music to come, reflects on five of her favourite fashion memories for Vogue.
