QUICK OVERVIEW
Become a Call Companion and support seniors. This volunteer role is critical to enriching the lives of seniors across our Southern and Central California communities.
MISSION
The Foundation for Senior Services is a 501(c)3 public charity whose mission is to help seniors age well by providing them and their families and caregivers with education and resources to help them choose quality care and maintain independence. The mission is fulfilled through a team of volunteers and the professional experts of the Senior Specialists Group (SSG).
IMPACT
Isolation and loneliness are key challenges many seniors face. You can make a direct impact on a senior's life by becoming a call buddy. In addition to companionship, you'll be able to provide visibility to the wide range of support services available to them through the Foundation for Senior Services.
VOLUNTEER ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Call Companion Volunteer, you'll be paired with one or more seniors as a "call buddy" to place recurring phone calls to check in on their overall well-being and provide companionship to those who may be suffering from isolation. You'll also be equipped to connect your buddy to the wide range of support services available through the Foundation for Senior Services. This is a fully virtual volunteer role - no in-person meetings/work required.

Complete a brief profile to enable the Foundation to match you to an appropriate senior buddy
Attend virtual onboarding training provided by the Foundation to give you an overview of our mission and support services, the phone system used to place secure and protected calls, and overall tips for building a rapport with your senior buddy

Place recurring calls according to the agreed schedule (expectations is 2-3 hours total each month for each assigned senior buddy)
