THE SISTER PARISH UPDATE
Piti, piti, zwazo fe nich li.
Little by little the bird builds its nest
Fr. Frixner had provided PROCHE, the office
handling grants for rebuilding Catholic churches
in Haiti, with the land titles and notified them
that ONE (Haiti’s National Center for
Equipment) was able to take the damaged
church down and clear the rubble. This paves
the way for PROCHE to move forward with the soil testing
and land surveys. Sister Parish has formed a subcommittee
to keep in touch with their office on the progress of the
reconstruction.
Unfortunately there has been no progress with the
construction of the new school. Caritas, the organization that
was going to provide the funding has had internal problems,
and it is not clear if or when funding will be available.
Fr. Frixner enjoyed his time with us and thanks everyone for
their support and concern for St. Genevieve Parish and
School, and for the people of Haiti. He was very impressed
with how many of our parishioners volunteered to make the
Taste of Haiti happen, and he was very pleased to see so
many attend the event. We were very happy to have Fr.
Frixner with us and one more time we thank each and every
one of you for making this year’s Taste of Haiti a success.
The Secular Franciscan Order Meeting
Is God calling you to walk in the
footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi?
Join us for our meeting in the
lower level of the parish center on
June 23 at 1:30 for the Franciscan
Crown rosary, followed by our
meeting. Our group discussion will be on
“Listening” from the book “Reading Scripture as
the Word of God” by George Martin. We will also
have a video about St. Margaret Mary Alacoque
and the Sacred Heart, narrated by Bob and Penny
Lord.
TODAY WE PRAYED FOR our Open Hearts, GLBT
Ministry and its members. The Open Hearts: GLBT
Ministry provides educational experiences to build
greater visibility and understanding of the gay,
lesbian, bisexual, transgender experiences within
our church community, and develop faith-building
outreach programming to the diverse spectrum of
the community. For more information, please
speak with mike Reynolds or Fr. Tom.

Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Patrick-St. Anthony and
St. Genevieve,
Happy Father’s Day to all the “fathers” of our community. You
have a great vocation and ministry which is a blessing to
many. I thank you for the ways you model God’s love.
As I write this letter we are celebrating the feast of St.
Anthony one of our patrons. It is a time to remember not only
the quest for lost things whose recovery is credited to St.
Anthony but also his care for the poor. Today we will give out
St. Anthony’s bread in memory of that special concern that St.
Anthony had for those who struggle for subsistence.
One of the many great blessings we share in St. Anthony is
our food ministry. We are partners with House of Bread and it
is a blessing for us. Many of our people minister at House of
Bread providing a meal and presence to those who are able
to go there for the care and support that is offered. Many
bring supplies for the House of Bread as they come to Mass
each week. Another food ministry is our sandwich ministry.
Our sandwich makers, snack providers and servers provide
something to eat every day to any who come to our door. We
also have the many people who bring and share an evening
meal with the women of Catherine’s Place. Our hospitality
committee provides meals for the many events that are a part
of our varied ministries. Our Religious Education Retreats
always involve food. Our Confirmation candidates provide an
annual pancake breakfast, and we celebrate our identity
along with the Ladies Guild, Men’s Fellowship and
Confirmation Candidates with our “Garlic and Gaelic festival.
We just celebrated Taste of Haiti with the wonderful foods
prepared by our Sister Parish Committee. This is part of our
communion with St. Genevieve Parish. Our Community
Sunday teams make sure that there are donuts and coffee or
lemonade and cookies as we gather one Sunday each month.
Finally, we are all fed at the table of the Lord, our common
meal and our sustenance. Both our Men’s Fellowship and our
Open Hearts Ministry bring their year to a close with a picnic.
Our Golf Tournament ends with a wonderful dinner.
As I see it every food event is an opportunity for Eucharist,
thanksgiving to God for God. The mutuality of shared gift at
table, the door, the Center and the altar is a way of realizing
Christ present among us, in the person who struggles, the
hungry, the friend, and the community, and our Communion.
We look at the feeding stories in the scripture, the multitudes
are fed (without a background check) on the mountainside
and the plain, Jesus eats with Pharisees and sinners, Jesus is
at home with Martha and Mary, Zacchaeus enjoys the
banquet of forgiveness and the two brothers are invited to
feast in the story of the prodigal son. Jesus has a final meal
with his disciples on the night he is betrayed and provides
breakfast for the disciples after he is raised. As we consider
these sacred texts we realize that like St. Anthony we are
called to feed others with the bread of life. I thank you for the
many ways that you are that bread of life broken and shared
that the face of Jesus might be revealed in the Body of Christ.
Happy Feast of St. Anthony, one of our two blessed patrons.
Your generosity and sharing at table are wonderful ways of
keeping his memory.
The House of Bread is in
need of OLD washcloths.
Please bring any old
washcloths and place them in
the bins at the back of the
church. Neither the color nor
condition matter; the cloths
will be bleached and used in the kitchen. Thank You!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION
St. Paul reminds us in the second reading that “I live
by faith in the Son of God who has loved me and
given himself up for me.” What do we give to and do
for others? What do we give to and do for Jesus?
LIVING STEWARDSHIP
We are grateful this week for stewards in our parish
who give of themselves by sharing their gifts through
prayer groups, healing and consolation ministries.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
A note of gratitude to The Hartford Baking Company
who has donated bread for the residents of
Catherine’s Place every week for the past 14 months.
Please consider expressing your gratitude when you
visit them at
